As for the death of comedy because of everyone being PC. I call BS. Stand up is just as out there. I have been watching a bit a Jimmy Carr lately and he takes no prisoners. IMO Russia/China are playing games with the West. If they really wanted to take Ukriane they'd take it in a week. Its just a test.

Russia did want to take Ukraine - but it's taken over 1000 days and counting.

Putin needs all the help he can get, but like Trump he's getting on in age, has health issues... Zelensky is young, and the future.

Russia is a large, tin pot country.
Their economy is tanking big time due to the war that they themselves instigated.
They did not expect Ukraine to put up such a fight. They just thought they would roll in and take over. They expected to take Kiev within 3 days and were repelled easily.
Ukraine have taken the war to them with technology. A major reason why they are still defending their homeland.
Russia needs to be told to sit down and stfu and walk away. What Trump is doing is only prolonging this conflict and making matters worse.
In the meantime, 10's of thousands of more lives will be lost, and for what? A simple attempted land grab of internationally recognised sovereign borders of another country.
I just don't understand why the international community is allowing this shit still to happen in this day and age.
Has the world not learnt from its past?

Their oil and gas industries for example.
Ukraine are playing the smart war.

They told me Russia just sells their stuff to another country who acts as a middle man. Unsure if it was Belarus and that's how they get around the sanctions.

The Russian, army/intelligence service is a classic example of what happens in a "dictatorship". There are no checks on power, friends or yes man in leadership, no avenues to report corruption or go against "leadership" (in a construction manner).

Basically Putin was told by his intelligence/defence forces, Ukraine would fall within a week, after they attacked, the population would welcome them as their saviours......all poor advice. But it was what Putin wanted to hear.

Plus their military is extremely poorly trained and resourced (because of corruption and poor leadership).

I suspect China, while in better shape, will encounter similar issues if they ever try to take Taiwan. Lots of talk it will be easier for them like it would be for Russia...but not so sure...plus there is a lot of ocean to cover...

And sadly the world has let Israel do the same attempted land grab outside their recognised border too. It's hard to know what or whose interests are being served these days - very different I'd imagine to the post-war years when the United Nations were formed.
