We don't need to import their beef and nor should we.
Albanese has just sucked up big time to Trump and that's embarrassing.
I totally agree. America produces the most amount of beef in the world but at the cost of quality. I'm very concerned about how it gets marketed here. I wouldn't be surprised if quotas are involved in this garbage arrangement, either. Australia, the country that was once lucky, progressively sold out for a song.
So far we are the only country that does not face across-the-board tariffs. Trump was using beef as an excuse to apply tariffs on our $billion beef industry, steel and aluminium.
The concession does not compromise our biosecurity now that we have we have agreed to allow the USA to export their beef. WhilstTrump is saying that WE have capitulated to their demands, it is actually the other way around. We’ll let the tosser have that if he wants. Diplomacy.

"The Albanese Labor government will never compromise on biosecurity," Agriculture Minister Julie Collins said.
"The US Beef Imports Review has undergone a rigorous science and risk-based assessment over the past decade.
"The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is satisfied the strengthened control measures put in place by the US effectively manage biosecurity risks."
The federal government has lifted longstanding restrictions on beef imports from the US. This is what it means for Australia.

Previously, USA beef never hit retail stores and apparently only ever made it to some steak menus. Nobody expects that to change.
