1. Who is us.
2. Firstly correlation does not imply causation. Over the past decade, big gamble have donated $6.24 million to major parties. Labor received $3.07 million and the (former) coalition received $3.17 million. Last election cycle they gave $71,000 to labor. That donation was consistent with donations over the years. Also, it is so paltry that it is hardly going to buy a stay in the introduction of the recommendations under the Murphy Review. Secondly, It wasn't an election promise, so there is no "heat" on them to do anything other than Wilkie banging the drum. Thirdly, If the Murphy Review recommendations were to be implemented, it would impact the NRL and AFL significantly. I suggest to you that TV deals etc and the timing of those are hot topics behind closed doors and raised often by the footy codes.
The Murphy Review recommendations go way beyond just banning ads. It involves a full photo ID check, the banning of inducements ( “Money back if your team loses by less than 10 points” ) and a shitload more.
That ID check thing is a hot potato. The cookers already said that the social media deferment for U16's was simply a ploy to get digital ID. Imagine how their heads will explode if the blue collar gamblers have to produce their photo IDs !
