The light rail had to be shut yesterday to accommodate those wankers.I don't want the harbour bridge or parts of the city shut down any more or for tax payers money to be spent on police etc for the same feral self-obsessed protesters. The tax payers have had enough of that mob.

Yes you can. You can ban them based on them being too disruptive (disproportionate to the feelings of the country) and too repetitive. The Palestine issue shut the bridge down 6 months ago. That is enough for them for 3 years I say.You can't pick and choose who can protest, based on whether you agree with them or not. That's not what a democracy is about. If you ban them then you ban everyone.
If you want to live in an authoritarian country then go and try China, Russia North Korea (or maybe even Trump's America).
There is a clear and non-negotiable line between peaceful protest and lawless behaviour. Protest is about expression; it is not a licence to attack police, intimidate the public, block emergency services, or openly reject the rule of law.You can't pick and choose who can protest, based on whether you agree with them or not. That's not what a democracy is about. If you ban them then you ban everyone.

It isn't just about their rights it is about everybody's rights who are affected by them. We dont live in the wild west.
Isnt that from way back when the war was going on?I think you are applying your biases to the topic.
* 82% of Australian voters feel that the prevention of food, medicine and
water reaching civilians in Gaza is unjustified.
* 67% believe that the Australian Government should do more to support
civilians being able to access food, water and medicine in Gaza
Australians respond strongly to civilian suffering and the scale of death.

New polling reveals most Australians find Israel’s denial of aid to Palestinians in Gaza unjustifiable, think government should do more: aid organisations - Plan International Australia
Australians overwhelmingly (82%) think that Israel’s deliberate blocking of aid into Gaza cannot be justified, according to fresh polling figures, with more than two in three Australians believing the Australian Government should do more to ensure civilians have access to food, water and...www.plan.org.au
Again, you are applying your biases to the topic. If you don't know why 300,000 people marched, you should find out.Isnt that from way back when the war was going on?
What percentage of Australia ever supported the "from the river to the sea" cause (wiping out Israel) which was largely what the protests were about.
Also did they bother to explain to the 82% that aid can go in through the Egypt / Gaza border?

Why didnt they protest in Hyde Park where they would have let them? ... they weren't stopped from protesting. The Israeli guy was not at Town Hall. Why did they try and do it there when they were told they could do it elsewhere? You can't pick and choose who can protest, based on whether you agree with them or not. I don't know. I agree that they were give the opportunity to assemble at Hyde Park and march to Belmore Park, However what is the point of a protest if you can't be seen I guess ?Why didnt they protest in Hyde Park where they would have let them? ... they weren't stopped from protesting. The Israeli guy was not at Town Hall. Why did they try and do it there when they were told they could do it elsewhere?

Don't get me wrong, i am anti Israel - the f**kwit pollies you support should not have invited this guy (LNP would have too - both are under the thumb).... but these people intentionally caused an incident last night .... i also think some of what i saw from police was awful.
I heard the action group where I am at in Newcastle they marched every second sunday.
They chanted "from the river to the sea" all the time and they held up signs like "Delist Hamas". There can be no confusion. Some good people joined that cause and they felt a bit grotty and try to deny it.
Oh and the bullshit prayer stunt at the protest ... please .... get f**ked .... go pray anywhwre else and you had no problem
Put on bullshit to play the victim
What would you call the Hamas action that occurred on 7 October 2023? Only 1200 victims, all in a days work?I find it quite ironic that there is so much outrage here today about a laughably violent protest in Sydney where a dozen or so people are arrested, or that the same protesters may have walked across a bridge or god forbid, closed a tram line, yet these same people have hardly said boo or condemned the deaths of more than 60 000 innocent civilians in Gaza in what is clearly an act of genocide.
I suppose the latter is ok because Isreal are supposedly the real victims here.
