Difference with DCE's re-signing is that he's re-signing with the current premiers, under a new coach that had been part of their system, and with a playing group that has tasted consistent success in recent years.

That dosn't make any difference to the fact he wanted more money.

We can try and tie our guys up before they come off contract, but if they aren't happy with the prospect of our team's position on the ladder, aren't happy with the gameplans or their development under the current coaching staff, and aren't feeling they will achieve success with those either side of them, then there's more incentive for them to test the market than there was for DCE.

We have managed to retain every player we wanted to keep since Kearney and Nolan arrived. We even got rid of a couple we didn't want that were stinking up our salary cap.

We have even managed to sign new ones!!!

Hence, while long term plans and patience is good on the one hand, the balance with results and success in the short term still has to be maintained in order for it to all come to fruition. That's why this Saturday's game and result is vital...

Why is it vital? We have re-signed all the players we wanted to keep and even brought in Lussick, Kelly and a couple of others yet to be announced.

If you can't see why this week's game/result is vital in terms of:
a) momentum,
b) a demonstration of the players' determination to get results,
c) a demonstration of SK's ability to help them get Said results, as well as
d) another marker of how the overall win ratio is progressing in the right direction
...then I'm afraid I can't help you.

Not to mention e) getting the death rider brigade back on track after some signings and a win has taken some wind out of their sails

Exiles coach Daniel Anderson has been enjoying his time away from coaching by becoming a broadcaster.
Anderson last coached in the NRL at Parramatta after leaving St Helens in 2008. Since departing from Parramatta in 2010, he has been providing commentary and analysis for ABC Grandstand in Australia.
It is a job Anderson enjoys very much.
He said: "It’s good fun and relatively stress less, if you want to say so. I talk about the game, go home and go to bed.
"It’s an easier job than coaching, it doesn’t get the rewards, but you get a much more comfortable lifestyle."
Anderson has not ruled out going back into coaching at club level, but says he will not be rushed into another club.
He said: "I’m with the Samoan team in the Rugby League World Cup next year, and I’m with the Exiles now, so I’m dipping my toe back in it.
"I have done ten years of coaching, so if I get a club offer I’ll consider it. If I don’t, then I’ll say I’ve had a good time."
Former Exiles coach Brian McLennan was appointed head coach of the New Zealand Warriors after defeating England in last year’s International Origin fixture.

You should take some lessons from eels dude and gronk.

To satisfy their need to put shit on the club they went on puerile rants about how no one is coming here because we are so f**ked; then when we announced some signings they winged about the quality of them.

It also helps to catastrophise about not replacing players who haven't actually left yet.

You've still got a bit to learn, but you will get there.

I know you prefer the reverse psychology approach to your death riding so you'll do it your own way.

oh come on - without all the deathriders the know-it-alls would have no one to stand over and tell em how it is - you need a balance in life

WRONG, mate. They aren`t putting shit on the club - they`re putting shit on the coach. Specifically his inability, so far, to get the team to win even moderately consistently. After a season and a half his win/loss record is absolutely abysmal. Now I`m sure you don`t think Kearney is a good coach, either. You`ve just got a bee in your bonnett about people calling for his sacking. You`d rather wait to see how things pan out. Anyone who calls for Kearney`s sacking now, has no brains; is a moron; is a typically stupid football fan; is a merkin; is a death-rider; is a whinger. But you, Suitman and Escobar have no more evidence than anyone else that Kearney`s tenure will prove successful in any way. In fact, there is no visible evidence. A few minor signings, and we retained a few promising blokes. Big deal. Every club does that. (Just as every coach in the history of sport has some sort of plan.) Once again, big deal. All the behind the scenes stuff, such as culture, structure, long-term plans, etc are not visible to us forumites (including you) - they are intangibles. But the abysmal win/loss record is visible to all of us. As Sherlock Holmes once said: "Never overlook the obvious, Watson."

And this where we'll just have to agree to disagree Lingard.
You say the intangibles aren't important but results are.
I just happen to think the intangibles ARE very important if this club is to get back on track and do it consistently, year after year.
I'm f**king ropable at the win/loss situation atm. It kills me to see the way we are playing at times.
But I refuse to call for Kearney's immediate sacking now. I've never put him on a pedestal, how could I? His first grade coaching record is appalling at this time. But I know what he's trying to do and it is my personal opinion that we, as a club, would go backwards more if we were to get rid of him now.
I'll repeat what I've said before. If we are still coming stone motherless this time next year, we should look elsewhere. I just don't believe we will be.

Suity
