Jethro Tull, not obscure, but simply old. One of the bands I play in, The Elastique Mindbladder have been playing Tull's Locomotive Breath for quite sometime, except we have a harmonica player dominating things in place of the flute.

It’s Engadine
There is a small window in time that is not obscure.

Ha didnt see your post prior to posting about Loco Breath, so true most bands played the harp covering it .. such a great blues rock tune. Ian Anderson was a musical god.

I went to Damien Lovelocks memorial last Saturday up at Newport. It was organised by Nick Carrol. It was a great arvo, I missed the Warriors game but it was worth it.
Tomorrow night Dion, of Shark Island Brewing, and myself will be playing our own tribute to Damo at the Blind Bear in Cronulla. It starts at 8pm and it's free.
Oh and we'll be having a frank discussion today about having a certain poster sing a song with us....

I saw the pics on Facebook, it looked like a pretty moving event. Did you get in the water ?

Unfortunately I cant get to the Blind Bear tomorrow as I have already arranged to go to the opening of an exhibition of art and music posters from Sydney from the 1970s.

Any love here for Daniel Johnston ?

Daniel Johnston, cult US indie songwriter, dies aged 58

Manager confirms Johnston, whose naive songwriting was beloved of Kurt Cobain, died of a heart attack

Daniel Johnston, an eccentric, enduring and much beloved figure in the US indie rock scene, has died aged 58 following a heart attack. The news was confirmed by his manager Jeff Tartakov.

Numerous cultural figures have paid tribute to the cult songwriter – once a favourite of Kurt Cobain – including Beck, Judd Apatow and Ezra Furman, who described him as “one of my best teachers”. Actor Elijah Wood wrote: “What a gentle, beautiful treasure. So sad to hear you’ve left us.”

Born in California in 1961 and raised in West Virginia, Johnston became known as a songwriter after moving to Austin, Texas. His popularity grew in the city after he started handing out tapes of his affectingly naive songwriting to people in the street, and began recording numerous albums. Cobain’s patronage prompted a bidding war to sign him, and he eventually signed to major label Atlantic in 1994, though mainstream success eluded him.

Strewth Dave Sullivan is dead. Was it from injuries he received in the war. Youse know that Dave Sullivans best cobber Norm Baker used to win the sprint races around Endeavour Oval during the halftime breaks.

Think some of the sharky fans might of thrown obstacles onto the course during the races. Emptied of course.

Norm was the gun runner and started off a bit of handicap I think. Popper or Thomas might know the answers.
