I am someone who made a good living off poker machines, not as a player, but as a Hotel Operator.
I have first hand experience how much goes into them, and most of the people who played them did so, not for fun, but because they were addicted. They couldn't help themselves. Some excluded themselves from playing, but just walked across the road to the Bowling Club and did their dough there.
It is sad, and I don't know what the answer is. Personally, I very rarely play them..I know, in the long run, you can't win...

I understand that HE resigned as he wasn't prepared to work with the "chumps" currently in management, who have NFI of how a Club should be run. The "Industry" knew what was going on and that he really ran the place from an operational point of view. He was offered CEO role at Wests Illawarra.
