we dont have to build the whole thing at once just stage 1 atm spruce up the corporate facilities etc and increase seating to 24-25 thousand will do for now

when we start selling out at 25 then we can move on to 30

You don't wait until you sell out. It is years too late by then.
When you are at 70-75% capacity on average, then you are full.
We have been there for years. If it held 30k, then our average would have been 20-24k the last few years.

We have a LOT of fans (see 31k avg at ANZ - which has been increasing in recent years). The more casual fan doesn't want to sit on a corner to watch the cowboys, and nobody is buying season tickets there. So there will always be dead spots. Blockbuster games will still sell out, but 1-2 sell out games per year is enough to warrant an increase.

Wanderers are also at 'full' state (14.8k avg)

The upgrade is pretty much dead in the water with today's announced, re funding of suburban grounds

Isn't the upgrade still as much chance as before? Months ago the announcements detailed future funding geared toward SFS, Homebush, and a third stadium in Sydney's west.... The Sydeny west option was said to be a fight between upgrading Penrith, upgrading Parra Stadium, or building a brand new one somewhere in between (unlikely).

Has anything changed this in the new announcement?

Cheers for that Suity - that's disappointing that the already allocated funding isn't able to be used toward upgrading either the north end and/or the back of the cronin stand (corporate boxes?) just yet.

We definitely seem behind the eight ball on hopes to become that third large stadium... all signs now look to be pointing at an upgrade to Penrith (unfortunately for us).

I should have said 'significant' upgrade.

If, and that's a big if, the current upgrade goes ahead, that'll be it.

I think it's fantasy to believe they'll turn off the tap to stadium upgrades but then single one out and upgrade it in the future. Won't happen.

What is also in our favour is Parramatta Councils dedication to vastly increase both the commercial and residential areas of the CDB and immediate surrounds. South of the river to the Great Western Hwy and between O'Connell St in the west and Hassal St in the east, they are ready to approve up to $8 billion of development over the next 5 years.

Clicky

This will bring people, corporates and events into the area and would really pressure the State Govt to upgrade Parra Stadium further.

Are we suburban ?

What's in our favour is WSW

(that hurt)

It's true though.
What's also in our favour is our proximity to the other western Sydney NRL teams. As a central locality, we can benefit all four west Sydney teams, as we are closer to them all than Penruff is.
Also, Parramatta is already an entertainment hub, and has the most direct public transport links than any other of the proposals.
The State govt would be mad not to expand Parramatta to at least 30 000 in the short term, and then, as the population grows in western Sydney down the track, to THEN consider an alternative larger stadium elsewhere.

A Wanderers fan has already designed a rebuild for Pirtek. Just for fun. It would fit into the current limited allowed floor space area.

Suity

If we got that design it would be the most awesome stadium to play out of and it would keep the noise in and have a great atmosphere. Also it would be shit easy to put a roof over it down the track. What a great little design. It would rival Suncorp, if not better it for atmosphere, when full.
