It's true though.
What's also in our favour is our proximity to the other western Sydney NRL teams. As a central locality, we can benefit all four west Sydney teams, as we are closer to them all than Penruff is.
Also, Parramatta is already an entertainment hub, and has the most direct public transport links than any other of the proposals.
The State govt would be mad not to expand Parramatta to at least 30 000 in the short term, and then, as the population grows in western Sydney down the track, to THEN consider an alternative larger stadium elsewhere.

A Wanderers fan has already designed a rebuild for Pirtek. Just for fun. It would fit into the current limited allowed floor space area.

Suity

This looks great.

If any work is done on Parra, it needs to be targetted towards 30k+ seats, anything less is pointless.

The National Rugby Championship starts in Mid August with the Greater Western Rams committing to play all regular season home games at Pirtek Stadium.
The Rams will play four games at PIrtek starting on August 28 and finishing on October 11.
The second tier professional rugby competition will feature Super 15 players who are not required for the Wallabies. The Rams are yet to formally announce their playing roster but are sure to feature a host of Rugby stars from Sydney’s Greater West.
In another announcement the American Football Ladies League franchise, The New South Wales Surge, will also call Pirtek Stadium home for three matches. Game one is November 8, then December 20 and the final match February 14, 2015.

Pirtek Stadium is setting itself up to be the centre of sport in Western Sydney with four sporting teams calling the stadium home.

The ground has already established itself as the fortress for the Parramatta Eels and Western Sydney Wanderers, but now the Greater Sydney Rams and the NSW Surge will also call play there.
More teams will mean more games at the stadium which Parramatta Council sees as a boost for businesses.
“We’ve got a stadium here that can generate up to $1.5 to $2 million on a weekend of a game,” Parramatta Lord Mayor John Chedid said.

“The Western Sydney Wanderers generated close to $15 to $16 million in their first year. If that’s not an asset then I don’t know what is.”
The decision from the Rams and Surge means Parramatta will be home to four national sporting teams.
Last year the council provided a $3 million commitment towards proposed plans to upgrade the stadium which would see an additional 12,000 seats added.
The additional seating could become necessary as attendance numbers continue to increase.
An expansion to the stadium will allow the Wanderers to continue to build their numbers. “We operate a minimum of 16 event days in season,” a Wanderers spokesman said.
“Improvements in operational spaces and in bringing the stadium into the 21st century with technology will also increase our ability to provide members and fans with an improved match-day *experience.”
Cr Chedid was quick to separate himself from talk of centralised stadiums.
“Whoever is making decisions about centralised stadiums needs to realise we are different from Melbourne,” he said.
Should the State Government back Pirtek Stadium?

If there's gonna be a Lingerie Football team there does anyone wanna start a fan group?

We can all wear lingerie to the game. If Pou comes we will allow him to put a sock down there so he doesn't get embarrassed.

Found this on SMH:

"Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether Western Sydney Wanderers will benefit from the first stage of the upgrade to Pirtek Stadium this season, which will increase capacity of the venue by 4000, after Venues NSW confirmed there is no set date yet for construction to begin.

The state government is in the final stage of completing its scope of works with construction on the additional seating behind the north and south stands not to begin until December at the earliest. The first stage of the upgrade will extend the capacity to 24,000, which will provide much needed relief to the A-League club that is experiencing another bumper uptake of season tickets.

"The Wanderers are passionate about Pirtek Stadium and we look forward to continue working with Venues NSW to ensure that our members, corporate partners and supporters generally are provided with the best match day experience possible," Wanderers chief executive John Tsatsimas said.

The Wanderers have sold 14,400 season tickets, all of them to returning holders, and expect to fulfil their allocation of 15,500 before new applicants will be allowed to make purchases. The club has a lengthy waiting list for season memberships before just its third A-League season and it is understood it is in need of an increase of stadium capacity to accommodate more fans."
