Whoever is next

It is a sport that in Sydney at least, is described as tribal. Your club comes 1st, 2nd, 3rd and everything else except for last.

If you don't get it you don't get it. No explaining for you is going to cut it.

But that is the way league is in Sydney.

So it is Parramatta Eels or nothing. f**k right off. There is no compromise. No Homebush. No invented idea of 'Western Sydney' that the soccer wankers have or 'Greater Western Sydney' that the vfl wankers have.

It is Parramatta. Parramatta Eels. Like it or f**k off. Makes no difference at all.

Hi Terry.
I see the tourettes is still not under control.
How is your medication going?

We need to develop a home ground advantage at Homebush and we do it by playing there and getting used to the place. It worked for Souths and the Dogs. Why not us?

How exactly has it helped Souths win the big end of season games? Or the Bulldogs for the matter? Last I checked Manly have been the most successful team of the last decade and they are loyal to Fortress Brookvale.

Well we could start by stop playing teams that use it as their Home Ground in the first instance (Dogs and Souths and sometimes Tigers). I don't see why we couldn't play the Dragons there, realistically I don't see why we couldn't even play someone like the Broncos there.

On another note, I think we should play the Warriors up in Darwin next year. It's got to take them at least 10 hours to get there!

Maybe they should stop playing us there? We get more fans to the games than they do.

So their 'home ground advantage' against is is forfeited.

Slightly off topic - but I would love to see us play a match at the SCG for heritage round - we never seem to be involved in these special matches.

Parra v Saints or Parra v Manly at the SCG - that would be something special.

Parra v Newtown?

I think we should consider playing the Dogs there. But I suspect the NRL would not allow a Dogs v Parra game to be played anywhere else but ANZ

The SCG is a horrible ground to watch footy at.
Much worse than ANZ.
I don't know why anyone would want to have their team play there.

Does anyone remember Northern Spirit FC?

Remember when they were packing out North Sydney Oval every week? At their height they were owned by Glasgow Rangers and at another time by Crystal Palace. It was international football glamour personified. Soccer was taking over everything...

Fast forward a few years and they're ending their life in the NSL playing in front of a few diehards and the players' family and friends at Pittwater Rugby Park.

Crowds are fickle, especially for new teams with no generational support. When the hype dies down and the results wane they'll come crashing back to earth and the crowd will be rattling around on the Peter Sterling Terrace.
Yep.

When Wanderers (eventually) end up nowhere near the A-league finals or Asian Champions League for a few years in a row, you could be very right indeed.

An example of communication between the Wanderers and their fans.

Apologies for the delay in response to this thread, but as you can imagine busy times at Wanderers HQ.

Just to give you guys a bit of an update on everything Memberships.

We are currently completing the change of seating and upgrade request forms at moment. Some of you may have been called regarding this and whilst we have been able to faciliate quite a few moves, not all of them have been possible due to to the renewal rate this season. This is a enormous job so please be patient as we work through it, we hope to be finalised in the coming weeks.

A small selection of members will receive their membership packs in the mail in the next few weeks, do not be discouraged if you do not receive your package at the same time as your friend, neighbour, arch enemy or colleague, we have only selected a small number of people who purchased on the first day to be sent out as this is the first time we will be packing them and sending them from overseas. We anticipate that all members will receive there cards and packs in the weeks before our first home game against Central Coast on the 25th of October.
Finally, I know you guys have been pushing this but for anyone waiting for any season tickets to become available, I cannot put enough emphasis on purchasing a supporter membership first to get on the waiting list. This cost will be included when you do upgrade, and will also ensure you will be the rush for any tickets that become available. The reality is that we might not go to the general public if we have nothing available.

As always if you have any questions concerns, DM or email me at btrupiano@wswanderersfc.com.au.

Cheers,
Ben

We had the home ground advantage there against Tigers and Dogs (both times).

Some people think HGA is about knowing every blade of grass... it is far more about the roar of the crowd and the baying for a penalty causimg the referee to be subconciously in favour.

We played well in Homebush games and executed poorly in one. We have lost at Pirtek and executed poorly....

Rubbish. Tigers game we were on the backend of a 7-4 penalty count. Luke Brooks got the diving penalty because the vocal tigers section were baying for it.
We might have had the majority numbers there (60/40, maybe even 70/30) but 40% of a 55,000 strong crowd is still 22,000 loud and convincing tigers fans.
That game was at Parra, there'd be 2,000 max. Tell me those crowd penalties are given.

Dogs got 4 first half crowd penalties that pretty much sewed up the game for them. So much so, that it drew the attention of BA and Hayne in the press conference. It was ridiculous. If that is at Parra, you'd have the fans erupting. I was surrounded by dogs fans at the game. Wouldn't happen at Parra.

The Manly game at Pirtek was one of the best games I've ever been to. The crowd won us that game.

HGA is about the crowd. No one is arguing with you. Play those two games at Parra, and I'm convinced we win them both.
