Just cos Parra vs. Dolphins is boring…

Suggested Bears team:

All players are off contract at the end of 2026…
One player from every other team…

PERTH BEARS

  1. Trae Fuller (Dolphins)
  2. Jesse Arthars (Broncos)
  3. Reuben Garrick (Sea-Eagles)
  4. Luke Garner (Panthers)
  5. Murray Taulagi (Cowboys)
  6. Jack Cogger (Knights)
  7. Tanah Boyd (Warriors)
  8. Toby Rudolf (Sharks)
  9. Damien Cook (Dragons)
  10. Sean Keppie (Rabbitohs)
  11. Zack Hosking (Raiders)
  12. David Fifita (Titans)
  13. Jack Bird (Tigers)

Yikes that team looks absolutely dreadful
Not saying it’s a good team - I just wanted to do the exercise - I basically also factored in the willingness of teams to let certain players go, rather than unrealistically cherry-picking the best off-contract players.

Riley Pollard could be a top target for them.

Clubs are going to find it even more difficult to keep young talent as depth. With two new franchises on the horizon the opportunity to play first grade sooner rather than later is going to be too tempting let alone the money aspect of it all.

Maybe the Bears might want the face of the NRL to join them and we pay some of the freight. Cough Cough Nicho Hynes……..

If Greg Florimo isn't their captain for their first year then they're kidding themselves

Mate, me and Norffs go back a long way.

This bloke wasn't bad for the Bears. I believe he got sent off in his first two games for the club. I liked his style. (sent of 22 or 23 times in his professional career)

Me old Pommy Ref mate Ronnie Campbell got Big Jim to sign his autobiography and kindly sent it over to moi. Big Jim and some bloke named Alex Murphy also signed it.

You youngens wouldn't have clue who Murphy was.... (one of the greatest halfbacks of all time) and Ronnie, well Ronnie was the ref in the challenge cup final when Sterlo played for Hull and Brett Kenny played for Wigan.

Great to see them back. f**k Manly. Bears were one club who tried to to the right thing and the NRL f**ked them over.

PVL is a saint. A few years back a Perth team would have came at expense of someone like us. Grow the game. f**k the AFL and f**k Manly.

The Bears were always my second team. It’s kind of a birth right (though my family would prefer they were my favourites).

It’s part of the reason I hated the Tigers for so long.
The Tigers and Magpies were both about to be booted so rushed into a merger that just doesn’t make sense, and were granted immunity from expulsion as a result.

Nekminit: hasta la vista Bears.

Anyway, good to see them back.
If the NRL has any sense they’ll be guaranteed two games against Manly every year.
With North Sydney Oval ,of course, hosting one.

Yeah, my grandpa was a diehard. I have felt him lately through a couple of things. My wife who doesn't watch footy, couldn't name 5 teams let alone a player bought me pj's today that are bears. They'll be my second team. I don't know if I even understand that term but I remember when super league came about I was stoked I could be a Sharks fan in SL and be with the guy who raised me and love for footy in the ARL for the bears. He had a health incident in 96 and I was "sent" to go and watch him at games to make sure if there was an issue I could get him help. I think I went to every home game they had in 97 so whenever footage is on I look for me and my best mate.

Even seeing Peach in the red and black was cool. Again thank f**k for PVL. 10-15 years ago we'd be in the Bears spot to make way for Perth.

Selfishly my first thought was a team in Perth is good for us because it should put to bed any talk of relocating us there.

I wonder how the people of Perth feel about having a team with existing links as opposed to an entirely new franchise.

Totally agree with you Nicho Hynes needs to get out of the Sydney media fishbowl, it would be good for his mental health plus Nicho has family in Perth.
Junior Bears like Kaeo Weekes (Raiders) and Jacob Preston (Bulldogs) would be great gets as would WA locals like Royce Hunt (Tigers) and Josh Rogers (Broncos).
Current NSW Cup players like Jesse Marschke (played Dragons NRL last season) and Ben Talty along with former NSW Cup Bears Allan Fitzgibbon (GC Titans/Ipswich Jets), and WA South Perth Lions junior Kurt De Luis (Burleigh Bears) would be great additions.
