All's I know is that my electricity bill went from 250 bucks a quarter to 450. I thought I had a bung fridge or something, it's still f**king hot outside and rains a lot in summer.

Increases in electricity costs are a state gov issue not federal. The carbon tax is blamed for increases in all sorts of prices yet there is no carbon tax.
