OT Warm ups

had an interesting conversation with an NRL level person the other day about the amount of warming up squads do & even they are miffed.
basically said to me its beyond a joke.
I spoke to him about the day the Sharks played at Brooky & it was an oppressive 30 sultry degrees & the team was doing warm up sprints in the sun for 15 minutes.
he said its all very normal but pharking doesn't make any sense.
Any trainers on here can explain it?

I had it down to 10 mins. Not 9, not 11.

Back in the sheds with about 7 till kickoff. Plenty if time for last minute taping stretching and words from the coach.

I'm sure Quigs would agree, warm up should be limited to shouldering each other in the change rooms followed by some face slapping, Tommy Raudonikis style.

10-15 minutes is all it takes to warm up.

Build some heat, stretch, a little bit of speed/agility and ball work... Done

I wish they wouldn't warm up on the playing field. I reckon' it takes some of the 'theater' out of the lead up to the game.

I confronted Elkin about the Manly warm up and he denied thats what they did.

Reefy is 100% spot on , I remeber that day well - we were buggered before the game .

I also agree that warm ups shouldn't be done on the ground before the game - it does kill the build up .

You can tell a lot from the warm up - I watched Canberra warm up the other week and from that I knew we were in shite - they looked very sharp where as that day we ambled around and dropped the ball a lot during ours.

10 mins is absolute max for a warm up and you certainly dont have to play a mini game or run through drills like we do in ours .

My under 12's have made it to the regional final to be played at Suncorp.

I'll have them warming up on the hallowed turf. I'll get to walk on it then.

Just introduce the little blokes to the tried and trusted method Since.

One swig each from the Sherry Flagon as they are about to leave the shed, and make sure the hooker puts out his durry.

Hey S73.

I coach u12s too. What club?

School team, North bris.

I'm a teacher - won our district, beat the winners of 3 other districts which makes us regional champions. Will now play the regional champs of the Ipswich area in a couple weeks at suncorp.

Our 5/8 is the grandson of a former little sharkie captain coach from UK.

how your guys going.
