Gavin Millers last match. In reserve grade! I dont think he was given much respect that day.

From memory they were playing Manly that day. Also that day Cronulla had to win all three grades to avoid last spot on the Club Championship, which they did.

Obviously we have a forum of relatively new sharks fans.

All of the one s mentioned do pain you, but the winner without a doubt is the passage of play in the 78 grand final.
Sharks 11-8 (or 6?)
Manly score try on 7th tackle.
11 all
10 minutes later
srum in front of posts, fet into locks feet. Hartley is accosted by Rogers saying where is the penalty(in front of the post) where he replies "You wouldn't want to win a Grand Final like that would you?"

Ha Ha , you may be getting old Reefy....
I was 8 when that happened and had already decided that I was a fan .
But I'm feeling pretty old these days out the footy when I look at that oh so sweet crumpet kicking around , in next to nothing in the middle of winter. Where's these girls fathers when they leave the house dressed like this.
Thankfully their probably at the pub...hooray!!!!! :D

I was 6. First real memory of a footy game comes from that season, when dad took me and the little bro to our first game at Whatever-it-was-called field that day. I remember it because dad lost his wallet. Being 1978, it was returned with all cash still in it! And I remember asking him why he gave the man who found it $20, which was alot back then!

So, I remember the GF debacle, not understanding much of it, but asking why the Sharkies didn't win it...Twice!

i think Newcastle in 01 was the worst for me.

we were up by 6 in the second half and timana tahu dropped a pass from o'davis deep in their half which revved up the sharks immensly, i thought we had won at that point, but then play gets called back for a Beattie late cheapshot on O'Davis. The tide turns and newcastle win. Beattie lost the game with that play.

What, Peachey's chip and chase attempt had nothing to do with it?

LOL. I know, a very trying day for us Sharks fans. Another one.

It was neither late, nor cheap.

Little was said about the mid-air tackle on Preston Campbell midway through the second half, which would have had us with a full set 20m out, and a great chance to wrap the game up...

sorry mate , Preston was the attacking player and ( so they said at the time ) that rule is for the defending player only..f**king rigged I say.

Oh come on jimbo
It was late, cheap and stupid

I do admit though that the call could have gone either way

The problem in that second half was that the Sharks forwards lay down and died

Absolutely no doubt , NZ final 2002 - a pathetic sight - a shattered man :( :) :) :(

I was nearly crying with the rest of the Sharks supporters...........
I walked back to the car park with my brother thinking whether Cronulla will ever win a Grand Final.

1999, Vs the Dragons, Semi-Final..
2001, Vs the Knights, Semi-Final..
2002, Vs the Warriors, Semi-Final..

All very dissapointing.. And to think if we had just won those games, where we had very good chances of doing so in each game, we probably would have won the Grand Final in 1999 and 2001 and maybe even 2002..

Ohwell.. :(
