It ain’t all bad.
I’m sure Flanno saw the antics at Manly and is thinking at least a payout is coming.
He and Kyle can go off and start a mobile Kenrays style suit hire business together.

I must be softening up I’m my old age. Was a tough watch seeing Choppers struggling when Kyle was being treated. Hope the kid is ok despite my dislike for the Flanno’s in general. Will say it’s an absolute pleasure seeing the Goons continuing their march towards the spoon. Will be hard to beat for that honour this year.

All Sharks fans will forever be grateful to the Flange for being the coach in 2016,
But,
All Sharks fans should also be thankful to Barry Russell for uncovering Flanges stupid/arrogant role in going against his banned orders of not being involved with the club.
If it hadn't happened we'd be looking at Flanju as a 300 game player.
Flanges recruitment after Moons left was bordering on diabolical, and his style of play was looking outdated year by year, which is now being proven by the Dargs game play.
Jimmy Maloneys take down of Flange last year was brutal, and the fact not one Sharks player from 2016 came out and spoke against it was telling.

In a surprising turn, James Maloney has criticised Shane Flanagan, his former coach at the 2016 premiership-winning Cronulla Sharks. In May 2025, Maloney claimed he "didn't learn a thing" from Flanagan, stating that the team's success was driven by the senior playing group rather than coaching tactics, even describing the coaching in that period as having "no idea"

That'd be awkward at grand final reunions between that pair.

I also remember Maloney downing tools like an utter sook in his final year here too so I've got no love for either of them.

Yeah he did, and it coincided with Flange giving the Chad a new contract, making Townsend the more valuable out of the two by the tune of about $100k or something.
Maloney then went hand in cap to Flanno for an upgrade and was rejected. I think that's the time frame of the toys being thrown out of the cot.
In no way on earth should the Chad ever have been on more money than Jimmy.

Things on the up at the Dargons.

Flanno has now lost 8 in a row and 12 of the last 14.

Kyle was clueless at 7 so Flanno bought Lachie Ilias to the club to play 7 and put Kyle to 6. But they were shit together so Flanno dropped Ilias to show it was all his fault and Ilias then went on to win 16 straight in NSW Cup whilst Kyle, who was put back to 7, went on to lead his team to 15th in a 17 team competition.

Flanno hates the fact everyone says his son is shit and can't play 7 at NRL level (what would Cronulla, Trent Robinson and The Bulldogs know) so he thought he would get another 7, so he can move Kyle to 6 again. That way if the team is still shit - and they will be, as he's told everyone they won't win anything this year - the new 7 can take the blame and nobody can say kyle isn't an NRL 7.

But he bought the wrong guy in Atko who is to halfbacking what a fat man is to lettuce and they are last and winless.

Kyle has never starred in a game at this level but he saw plenty of stars last week when he got knocked out, and the best attacking half they had from last year is in: King- Togia.

Unfortunately for the Flannos they play the travelling shitshow known as NQ Cowboys at home, so are a big chance of winning their first game. Especially with Kyle out.

But what happens if they win...?

Flanno can say Kyle needs another week due to concussion to avoid changing a winning team, but the week after they play another basket case - the sea Eagles.

What if they win these 2 games?

Will flanno be hoping his own team gets beat so he can get Kyle back in?

Stay tuned.

Whatever happens it is all very interesting to watch.

C'mon the Dargons, maintain the current form, you know you can.
