I think this season is going to be closer fought than this past three seasons.

I can see a few sides improving, being more competitive .

With no Api and no Viliame is it unlikely we can achieve the win / loss ratio we have enjoyed over this past three seasons.

Fully fit, with a fair run and minimal injury disruption I think the Roosters are the most likely contenders to end our dominance. They look really strong with there best 17.

I think it is going to be a really fantastic season.
Not on tonight’s performance

Dont be fooled by the Roosters last night

missing
Walker
Keary
Manu
JWH
and Sualii for most of the game

Teddy spent a lot of time on the bench as well

Manly looked better but couldn’t play for 80

This is true. But Manly did have Turbo and DCE out. I'd suggest those two guys are in the top 10 players in the NRL.And Manlys two beat players by some bit.

Keary is a head knock away from retirement.
JWH is an old man and I just can't see him performing at the same level anymore as your top props.
Roosters are my side to challenge you guys but they come with so much risk. Kearys concusions , Walkers defense and consistency and JWH turning into an old man fast.

Penriths side is young still. No golden oldies. Cleary hasn't even hit his peak yet. I don't see any risks bar injuries to the side derailing.

Storm are another side who I feel could explode. They've lost good players and Papps knee is unstable. If they lost either Munster or Grant for an extended period they will be an average football side.

And JWH frequent 🧠 explosions.

Don’t want to be that guy but trials don’t mean a thing and many of the good teams treat it as such. I’d genuinely not play one if I was a coach / had the option, nothing to gain imo.

That's true. But watching guys like Koula/Okoulatu and you can't help but think they've gone up a gear and look set for big seasons personaly.
As a team I agree I wouldn't take to much notice.

Not true, plenty of reasons to trial out the bottom 13 of your squad to see how they fair in a 1st grade environment without your better starters.. almost like the cowbous game last round last season, trails are important for that reason.. injuries happwn throughout the season, better to know who is 1st ready material going of a few trials aswell as split rounds thru origin

Putting aside the WCC and Charity Shied.

Trials are good for young guys trying to get into FG.
Players coming back from a long injury layoff, looking for some game-time.
Conundrums over positions.
And teams that were disappointing the previous year looking for some early season confidence.
The rest just go through the motions hoping not to get injured.

The sharks look outstanding the bulldogs struggling

Only a trial but had a read on The Kennel. Many seemed dissapointed in Mahoney and Burton.

Ciraldo is meant to be the next super coach. Yet seems to rate Haze Perham. I've seen him at the eels and he is a mistake machine. It made me question Ciraldo tbh. I see nothing in Haze Perham. Time will tell.

It's going to be fascinating on how this works out. Is Circaldo another TB ? Is it just teething issues. Or has Gus begun to 'meddle yet again' ?

I'm sure all will be revealed in due course. The Sharks looked good. But it is early days.

They have the knives out for Burton every other week over there. Some of the posters are dead set schitzo with the extreme love, then hate week to week. They do have some excellent contributors as well, it's a pretty good forum.

I have supported the Panthers since I was a five year old in Cambridge Park in 1966. You learn to take the good with the bad. It's no use judging a teams performance week to week. You really need 4 to 5 or so (?) weeks to get a good indication of performance. If you are judging a team from week to week you are only a fair weather supporter. (I'm not getting into the "True Fan" crap) As the Ent said, "Don't be hasty".
