They actually aren't called the New Zealand Warriors anymore. They are Simply the Vodafone Warriors.

That's not what I've been calling them for the last two months.

How bout, the 'Auckland Welcome Mats?' Wipe your feet on em on the way past

True, if they're no longer the 'Auckland Warriors' (which they're not) then they have to be the 'NZ Warriors', whether it's offical or not.

As pointed out in prior posts, an NRL team has to identify with a geographical location, they have to come from 'somewhere'.

Let's go back to Auckland. The Victoria Storm? The Queensland Broncos? The Western Australia Reds? No, no and no.

I wouldn't want us to be Auckland. I don't think it makes financial sense to be called Auckland. Why did they change it in the first place, to give the rest of the country an identity with it? Until the Orcas float up, keep it as Warriors - anyone can infer they're the NZ Warriors, Auckland, Penrose, Industrial Park, whatever.

Your basketball team in the NBL is similar. They're called the New Zealand Breakers, not the Auckland Breakers or just the breakers. Mind you there was a time when the Cronulla Sharks just went simply under the "Sharks" banner, but maintained the same colours and logo and still played at Toyota Stadium
