Our answer to replacing Shackleton

I really don't think that Brendon Oake is up to first grade standard. He made too many mistakes yesterday & I think that he it might prove to be very costly to the team in the future if he stays in first grade.

I think that we should have Krisnan Inu on the bench. Joel Reddy could easily move into the second row during the match. He has the size to be able to cope with playing in the forwards & he is great in defence.

Joel was one of our best last year and nearly MVP yesterday. Why change him ? Hopefully we can find someone (Horo?) who can fill the hole like Smokin Joe did last year.

I'm happy to give Oake another week or 2, there were signs there that he can contribute positively to the team if given the time to do so.

oake carved it up in the trials... sure trials are different.
But oake was thrown on when we were in a losing position and has not played alot of NRL...
give him time.

Yeh thought this yesterday too along with m keating oake was pretty woeful

Both made virtually NO impact on the game whatsoever. I dont agree with switching Reddy though. Give him another chance...or maximum two but if he doesnt step up i'd be saying seeya later and giving Horo a crack.

leave reddy in the centres. he was awesome shutting down our right side.

Give Oake another 2 games to impress. None of the forwards except Fui were doing much. Unfortunately, we are not blessed with too many options.

Inu will probably end up playing next friday for either the injured grothe or burt

We can't smash Oake on the one performance, wasn'tgood wasn't bad.

More issues revolve around the 9 and 7, good defenders but slow in distribution and little attack.

The thing is, we need someone to replace Shack week in week out.

We're never going to find that replacement if we start making a change there every week the replacement goes poorly.

Let the guys settle and see how they go over three or four games at least.

If you go by some of the things said on here after the game, we'd be making 7 or 8 changes this week lol

I don't wanna be rude but i think people are living in a dreamland in this forum. Oake is a good honest player who has struggled to live up to his hype (next Hindy much).

Oake is a very basic squad Wenty player, im not going to rip on the dude but he is never going to be a NRL standard player. It seems like Parra has a thing with persisting with players that they have invested financially in regardless of how mediocre they play.

no one here is saying that Oake is the ideal replacement rather than we don't have a great deal of choice atm...

we can sign a decent back rower by selling Hayne off and buying Luke O'Donnell if you want and then buy shannon Gallant with the change left by Hayne????...your choice ;-)

Oake will play next week, probably hold his spot until there's another injury and someone else is given a go and outshines him.

I don't get to see much of Wenty play (live in QLD) but I am hoping someone can step up and provide something for that bench spot. Seen a bit of Oake play first grade and he doesn't offer anything. No hard running, hard hitting or ball playing. I think that is what we need off the bench. Feleti gave it to us last year.

How has Horo and Pele been going?
I really don't think Reddy is the answer in the back row. His defensive reads when partnering Grothe are too important to mess with.

Another note - I think Anderson might have showed his hand towards the end there. Robson to the bench when Matt Keating came back on and had Mortimer & Kris Keating in the halves. Starting line up next week??
