There are a lot of average teams this year. How we have only managed to beat one team in the top 8 boggles the mind
Even the knights have done better than that.

Any half decent coach has this squad in the top 4.
The trouble with making statements like this is that they are easy to say, but impossible to prove either way.Any half decent coach has this squad in the top 4.
The bottom 5 account for 9 of our 11 wins. While this indicates we've been hit in the arse with a rainbow in the draw this year, these bottom five teams have won 31 games between them, all against teams we are competing with, none of them against us. That is why we are (just) in the 8.How we have only managed to beat one team in the top 8 boggles the mind
He mentioned we are not playing good football (dropped ball, missed tackles) and that our current style of play isn't great (griffins strategies). Can't really disagree with him on those points but if we win this weekend we should be ok.For what it's worth, Girds doesn't think we'll stay in the 8.

North Queensland may struggle to stay in with games against Cronulla, Wests and Brisbane.
Yeah I agree, we are still missing a lot of tackles apparently but I think the defence as a whole has definitely improved. I reckon Girds is going in for a bit of motivational work here, remembering how the 2003 side of which he was a member was written off left, right and centre. For what it's worth, Girds doesn't think we'll stay in the 8.

He has written us off a few times on NRL tonight the past 18 months. Each time we bounce back the following week.
