Our Future????

The future looks very bleak. Relying on juniors with potential is not the way to go because it can go either way. The juniors look great and hopefully they succeed but the problem is, if Saints don't make finals, they will just leave for a club that will or looks like they will. Saints don't look like they will. The close losses to the big sides mean nothing when you can't beat the bottom 8 sides which they fail to do.

They need a good mix of youth and experience, and the Saints cannot attract any player but unwanted players at clubs that are not chased by anyone but Saints. Who was chasing Gutho and Cook? They are great players and have had a decent season, but they landed in Saints lap. Is is not as if there was a challenge from another club for their services.

I was excited about Flanno but after his nepotism ways this year my thoughts of him being our saviour are gone. He should take note of Brad Arthur at Parra. He was going well until he started playing his son more than he should have and it cost him his job. The Cleary connection is a special one where the coach has proven to be a future immortal same with his son. The Flanno's are no way near that.

Thanks for the scoop. Please also let us know how Dragons go in the finals this year.

The juniors have been the only bright light this season but we can't just be hoping for this every year and no finals. It is starting to get depressing. Do we have to wait for this coach to now get sacked and start again for the 5th time now since Bennett left?

I really hope 2026 will be season that Saints make the 8 and not one where a coach is sacked half-way through or has 6 rounds in 2027 to prove himself and a new guy comes in and after that and they start again with a promise of 2-3 year for finals.

2 more new teams coming in so 2 more teams that players will look at joining before signing for Saints. Saints have not won a signature of a player when another team shows interest for so long now it ain't funny anymore. Saints are the laughingstock when it comes to recruitment. I hope Ando can fix this.

Maybe the 2 new teams will even out the competition a little.

New award for Dragons…. worst attendance record in the league, 3rd worst on ladder, 2nd worst injury toll, 3rd worst home grounds….how can the Tigers get $100m in grants to upgrade 2 grounds??

Where does the future lay??

The stats I saw said our home game attendances this year are the worst in the league, but our away game attendances are only 4th worst. I'm guessing that means other teams supporters prefer watching the dragons get beat rather than the Titans, sharks or manly.

It's a pretty dismal record however you look at it. Would be nice if Management came out with a statement as to how they intend to arrest the decline of a once great club.

Year after year we hear we will improve.
Now it's 2027 where will be better.
Keeps getting put back.
Only signed 2 for next year but they won't fix our playing issues.

We were 4th worst in away attendances probably because of the Anzac Day game was an away game.
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Sadly i don't see anything on the horizon that will change things.

Maybe they need to get the Spoon to put a bomb under them then they might start taking things seriously ......... Until some of the Boys Club that I have been referring to are gone or stop having a say with what goes on in the joint the place will die a slow death .......... A worse year than last year , yes we have had injuries and lost close games , but that's why we signed Gutho , Cook , Holmes so we would win those games ( and they were all on deck in the close games ) So for me this year has really been a failure , the only good thing is we have blooded some of the younger brigade ( because he had no choice ) ......... The team balance is far from right , too many plodders in positions , too many wrong type of players for the modern game , lack of genuine speed that can go 100 m to win us a game , lack of a game breaker , and a REAL number 7 that we have been lacking for years ( Hunt for me was not a 7 more of a 9 ).......... Anyway very disappointed , expected more this year instead they have gone backwards on the table ........

FMD our team sucks. I have to admit. I’m one of those supporters who cancelled their membership and stopped going to the games as the team has been so piss poor and they don’t seem to care about trying to become a powerhouse again.

That is poor BUT, all these Saturday arvo games aren’t ideal when people have kids sport all day then try and get to a 530 game, near impossible. Not easy but yes it’s still piss poor

Looking for something positive … Jasias Ah Kee has led Patrician Brothers to win the Peter Mulholland Cup … from halfback and captain.
Wish we could teleport him 3-4yrs forward.. I describe him as LKT only with more acceleration/speed/footwork, 1 man wrecking ball... but long long long way to keep him here till NRL ready.. esp if he keeps performing the way he has..

Also wish we could move him into the Steelers system, thats always a rly good squad, whereas im not sure how competitive the Dragons HM/SG Ball squads will be in the next 1-2yrs.

The crowd attendance I dare say is mostly due to the scheduling. Most games are on Super Saturday where people as mentioned above have sporting activities to attend to or work. With the current climate lots of people work on Saturdays to cope with the cost of living. Plus the luxury of sitting at home on a rainy day (and it has been an unusually wet winter this year), also contributed to the low attendance.

The obvious biased refereeing against the red V has turned a lot of people off as well. Every week we hear the commentators say "the Dragons have been hard done by here", but nothing is done. It's getting ridiculous. The NRL just don't want the Red V around and would rather back the Sharks and let them rule the region. Soft draws, good scheduling, hardly any bad calls. Chalk and cheese to the treatment the Red V get. from the NRL and their "Officials".

V'Landys keeps saying that the crowds are up etc but I am coming across more people turned off the game than ever and they are not even Dragons supported. I just don't see where they get those figures of bigger crowds and higher viewership. It seems all fabricated.
