Never really noticed this but seems like a good/valid point. I really like Katoa as a player but our defensive performances have dropped with him as hooker. Likely to be some sort of connection.

I also think Tamou is crucial to our defence. As soon as he went off yesterday our middle started to crumble. When he came back on it tightened again.

Have they though? We held the tigers than dragons scoreless with Katoa starting at hooker, our best defensive performances of the year. I think its just an easy connection for people to make because Wal was such a great defender, but there was no initial drop in our defence when Wallace got hurt, if anything was at its best just after that point.

Sure the defence seems to have dropped off since Wally retired, but he was out for weeks before he actually retired.

Not quite John. St George have yet to have a bye. Mathematically, they win all their matches, and we lose all ours, and they can still be minor premiers. Possible, but highly improbable.

On the Panthers Web there is cover of the ISP game yesterday and the final shot is the team photo as ISP winners.

They played so well yesterday. It will take a good team to beat them. Have Crichton and co until NRL are knocked out atleast

Of the Sharks, Rabbitohs, Roosters and Storm, I'd prefer the Roosters to be honest. Hopefully our forwards would be fired up after getting smashed by them earlier this year and they lack concentration and discipline at times. Won't happen unless they finish first though.

So, if I understand the finals system correctly, we'll have to hope the Storm finish first and Dragons fourth. We'd probably play Brisbane first week and if we win then we'd play Dragons second week. Then Rabbitohs or Roosters in the third week. And then finally if we made it that far we'd get flogged by the Storm in the GF but at least we'd be there.

Just like the past couple of years, you watch other clubs pick this side apart.

From yesterday's squad. The following are signed next year

Aekins
Phillips
Keighran
Coleman
Egan
Hetherington
Ellis
Burns
Waddell
Martin

So much better than this time last year.

Most of Flegg is signed up too

Keighran looks a real good prospect. Not sure where he'll fit in but has been impressive all year whether he's at centre or in the halves. Might even play a bit of backrow?

I know we want Dragons to lose tonight - unfortunately that means wanting Parra to win. Conundrum.

I feel pretty sorry for the Eels at this point.

Let’s also hope the Sharks lose tomorrow.

If Sharks lose tomorrow and we beat the Knights next week, it almost certainly means the lowest we can finish is 6th given our superior F/A over the Sharks and Broncos.

If we also beat the Warriors lowest we can finish is 5th.
