Well out thought, in every aspect.
Frustrating as hell, because some of our players - Anderson, Fein, Byrne, Price and even Hohaia, played pretty well.
Just let down by our handling, and great Tigers defence.

Ropati had a poor game and Webb shouldn't have bothered playing.

Get a new fullback ready for Newcastle, Kemp. Don't pick Ropati. And you know that notion you had to drop Toopi, best bring that up again eh.

Latu & Betham to be ggggoooorrrrrnnnneeee for a few weeks each.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a long season for the Warriors.

Expect Newcastle to do a St George (vs Manly) and rise above themselves to defeat us next week, especially as it is the grand opening of their new stadium.

Hope I'm wrong.

Let's not get too carried away with the "grand opening of stadium" thing. The crowd gets a bigger buzz out of it than the players do. It'll just mean the full house sign goes up quicker next week, that is about all.

 about your Cliff Beverley comment, PDB. At the moment, it's sad but true.

Considering our record against the Knights, a loss wouldn't be surprising.

I'd disagree with the "out-enthused" bit in the title of this thread. See how the players were rushing to pack all the scrums near the end of the game. That was a good sign for me.

Your guys were rushing to the scrums near the end of the game in the hope that the nightmare would be over quicker.

Half the team wanted to play.
Webby was obviously still carrying a back injury right from the start.
The only good thing Hohaia did was bitch slap one of the Tigers players ;-)
Ropati should have been at stand off and definitely not left to enter the game til after the break..and then have to cover for Webby
Guttenbeil should be chasing a dog wearing slipper
Toopi and Meli should only be together bringing out the oranges in the locker room
Feka should've been used more..off after 15 min? and not much game time after that.
Stace was lost without a decent player backing him up
Bring back Ropati where he should play. Bring back Manu.
Thank Christ for Price, Fein and Byrne..or the scoreline would've been the same as last year.
Well done to the Christchurch crowd and the Tigers
Roll on next week, surely we can do better..

guys looking at your performance last night i think at best you will compete for a bottom top 8 spot, it is great for the game when you guys are doing well, but you need to rebuild, toopi & meli are shadows of there former shelf terrible defenders no confidence, it is easier said than done you need the best talent out of nz not what is left after the other 14 clubs rape your player talent, the nrl needs to try and stop all the best talent leaving your country.
anyway need a five eight to take all the pressure of jones and no one does that at present, when is ali off contract need him back where he should be.
not bagging you guys just reading it how it is the game needs you to be strong so the wellington francise has a strong arguement to be included in nrl.

Well if you had asked me yesterday who would win next weekend the Warriors or Knights I would of said Warriors with confidence but after seeing last nights game....

Kemp should now know the verdict is out, stop trying to bring back the Warriors of old (Toopi and Meli combination actually working and Hohaia actually play decent) and look towards the Warriors of the future I have high hopes of the likes of Mannering, Vatuvei and Baxter.

And concerning Wellington I don't really see how the Warriors will effect them at all either postively or negatively, anyone who has actually bothered to read what they are offering will see it is a great proposal:

Probably the best stadium in NZ as a home ground: Westpac Trust Stadium

Fullbacking of a belguim millionare businessman

10, 000 registered rugby league players and 70,000 registered rugby union players some of who could be lured over if Wellington plays their cards right

And fullbacking of the NZRL who have been pushing for a second NZ based NRL club for quite a while now.

we have got some good players in that team, thats not the problem, it goes deeper than that.

Definitely out thought.

It was quite simple, kick in behind Francis Meli. A: Because he's as slow as a snail B: he turns as slow as a turnstyle that has cement covering the moving parts C: he always rushes up and in regardless of the situation looking to get back on the Footy Show's hit of the year parade

Francis Meli used to be a strong hit up man, you'd select him on that alone to work it up for us. But I'd hasten to say he's probably the man with the highest percentage for "SURRENNNDDAAAA" tackles. He gets to the line, drops the knees. Gives up a quick play of the ball. Its like he thinks he's a 46KG hey Presto. He's a 100KG dynamo. That was about what you'd select him on, and he used to collect some 4 pointers. Has he scored this year??? Has he made a play of hitting it up hard??? No. Has it been like this since round 1 2004? Yes. When does the cookie crumble? When do we open our eyes that since Joey Johns spoofed himself over him in a test match he's done nothing since.

Is that the grading we use? Joey Johns blowing his wad over a player? Toopi and Meli have dined off it. I can just imagine it. Candlelit dinner in a restaurant over looking Auckland harbour. Kempy roaring into 8 steaks. Mick Watson with an alf-alfa crossaint. Toopi and Meli with KFC. TK "Well fellas, look I might have to drop you guys, sorry to say.." FM with his usual big beaming smile "But boss, cuz, bro, cuzzy bro, Joey said we da world's best, bro," CT "Yeah bro," FM "We're 100 kilos of Mad Butcher's best, cuz," CT "Yeah bro," FM "Peter Sharp says we da best left side attack in the game, boss," CT "Yeah bro" FM "Plus cuz bro we've got matching hairstyles, thats how much we love the mone.. i mean team cuz," CT "Yeah bro" FT "And remember, there's no I in team bro, but all the letters are part of both our names when you put them together, cuz" CT "Yeah bro". TK "I'll tell you what, you give me half of your 68 piece feast, and I'll let you play, bro." FM "Sure, fulla." MW "Mmmm, this alf-alfa sprouts are delicious. I love you guys."

-----

As for the second Whatuira try, I felt for Sione. He's having a real dig this year, and becoming the Sione of old. He at least has changed his attitude to what happened in 2004. He really deserves credit. Possible bolter for the test match. But he's not a centre, he got done for pace and footwork. He wouldn't get caught out another 1-2 more in field in the defensive line, where he would line up in the second row.

And poor J-Ro, he's no fullback. The poor kid will have no confidence now. What a talent. And the Warriors have been reading "The Dummies Guide to Ruining a Player" too much as far as he's concerned. I said it after round 25 last year, while people where spooging over his performance, it was worth remembering he almost bungled two bombs, but the Roosters were so lacklustre that day that they had no pressure on him. Imagine how he would have gone if they were on song and chasing like they usually would?

As far as Webb goes, yes, he's a top player, but only name him if he's fit. They're being caught out. They should have always had Laeseni or Atkins or Baxter on stand by incase Webb was out. Even this game, there was no way he was fit enough. Another piece of being out thought.

As far as out enthused, Wairangi Koopu fought like a trojan on D, Byrne made some great key plays to keep us in it, Price rolled on relentlessly, Feka when he was on was damaging (FFS, he can go longer than 10 minutes!), and Nathan Fien was tremendous.

Arrrrgghhh!! Will the real Warriors PLEASE stand up.

ffs, how can anyone say Hohaia played well. Look at our attack, it was pathetic, and that has to come back to our halves. Some of you are too easily sucked in by a few good runs. You have to look at what Hohaia isn't doing, not just what he is doing. Him and Jones were both absolutely pathetic.

I agree, his distribution has been poor from the beginning. The odd good run & odd offload in a tackle does not make a good 5/8. He's not moulding the backline around him, they're not getting the time, momentum & space to do much of anything.

I posted a thread awhile ago about Kemp saying he wants to play Ropati at various position as he didnt believe he was quite ready for standoff. How is putting the guy at fullback, one of the most, if not the most pressurised position in the game any less daunting & risky for the guy? He is still very raw, but to me looks 100 times more at home wearing the number 6 on his back than any other number, in particular the number 1.

Another thing that had me scratching my head is why Iefeta was yet again used so sparingly? Was it not p*ssing down in Christchurch? Surely the go was to lean towards a straight up the middle forward tussle & besides Price, who is the most damaging, metre gaining big man we have? Is Iefeta signalling to the coaching staff that he's tired & needs to come off or something? I just dont get it.

I guess buying Price and Fien was a good option. Without them this year, it would be deja vu from '04..............

Woul of Wikki being there helped?
