Australia have scored, and dare say that will be the game but - reckon this is the most vulnerable Australia have ever looked

Good tough game in front if a decent crowd. Tonya just not quite polished enough to win it. If they had backs that matched their forwards they would be unstoppable!

Well done Tonga . They need to drop the 6, too many costly errors and disjointed the attack. Offloading needs to be promoted alone with support play and they take Australia to the last minutes.
33k was a great turn out and it's starting to feel like we have genuine International competition !
I'd like to see 2 competition run annually with promotion and relegation:

World leaders cup:
Australia
New Zealand
Samoa
Tonga
England
Fiji

World Challengers cup:
France
PNG
Cook Islands
Wales
Ireland
Scotland

tonga remind me of nz 15 years ago, some class players but not the polish in the spine.

the score could have easily been 12-6, take away turbos intercept and if kolomantanga grounded the ball properly.

Yeah Lolohea looked out of place. He didn't have his best game. Katoa and Fainu will be a cracking halves pairing for Tonga at the next three world cups, just a bit too young at the moment

So 33k Suncorp, sold out Christchurch, probably sold-out Mt Smart and hopefully sold-out Final at Commbank. Genuinely competitive games. Ladies and gentlemen the international game is coming of age

This sort of thing, along with hopefully good ratings will give the NRL confidence to go bigger with this concept.

We need to put some investment into France. If we can get them to compete at a decent level (maybe somewhere between Fiji/PNG level and Samoa/Tonga level) we have 9 quality international sides.

Interesting article on NRL.com about PNG`s rise. Before the Hunters came into the Q Cup they didn`t win a game at the two previous WC`s. Have made the Quarters twice since the Hunters inception.

When they get an NRL side, give them 5-10 years and they`ll be right up there with the NZ`s, Samoa`s, Tonga`s and England with rivers of golden players running out of those mountains.

Looks like the kangaroos just lost Payne Haas to Samoa. I won't be surprised if Tino Fa'asuamaleaui joins the Samoan team too

Awesome news.

Samoa and international RL as a whole will hugely benefit from this.
I also saw a recent interview from Luai saying there's more stars coming over to Samoa but he won't say who it is out of respect to those players. I think RTS joining Samoa may have got a few more boys to come over to samoa

I’m not fussed on the format these days but we need those 9 plus the likes of Wales, Lebanon, Ireland etc playing each other regularly, 2-4 games a year for every team.

Having 3 team tournaments and “bye weeks” like NZ have this week is a waste with such a limited window, likewise could have had Tonga V Samoa last week before Samoa flew out plus NZ V Fiji.

Agree, you have England, Samoa, France, Cook Islands and Lebanon doing nothing this weekend but the Kiwis have a bye? Doesn't make sense
