Pacific Championships 2024

The Pacific Championship isn't an IRL event, so it won't be them who decide to tweak the competition.

If the USA is added to the tournament, it will be an NRL decision. Considering the NRL & USARL are talking in the lead up to Vegas, it's not impossible.

Would love to see the tournament introduce a third tier for the likes of Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Philippines, Japan, Canada, etc.
That would be great, but as you said, the NRL are running it and despite what they claim, they aren't interested on spreading the game. They're only interested in promoting brands and generating revenue.

Give the kiwis 2 homes games in the 2024 competition.

play the Tonga test in Auckland at mount smart and the Aussie game in wellington.

the Aussie v Tonga game should be played at parramatta.
And final at Suncorp as the poster after you suggested

Tri series again is a bit shit.

If Samoa play in England I would have preferred to see PNG promoted and put USA and/or Lebanon in tier 2 with Fiji & CookIs to make up the numbers.

NZ V Aus - Christchurch
Aus V Tonga - Parramatta
Tonga V NZ - Auckland
Final - Melbourne (needs to be one game in Melbourne from memory).

Tonga V Samoa and a couple other warms ups hopefully.

Completely agree. A four nations would be a better format and three guaranteed tests for each nation.

On the bowl. 100% Lebanon should be invited. They are qualified for the 2026 world cup so they should be given annual matches in the lead up

They are not interested in spreading the game beyond the PI's as a source for future players.

So much for the recent IRLF meeting that supposedly laid out a ten year plan, they’re altready making it up as they go along!
And then we wonder why international RL struggles to be taken seriously.

I believe the IRL truly wants to create a decent ongoing consistent International calendar, it is constantly being attacked by an obtuse NRL..

It’s abundantly clear the ALRC/NRL does NOT want anything to diminish that 3 game showpony between June-July.

How many 10 year plans have we had in the past 10 years? Seriously would take a plan for the next 18 months at the moment.

I actually think it is Channel 9 who are pressing the NRL to not have anything interfere or compromise their product which makes them millions ie. Origin. It has been noticeable since the NRL and Nine have been partners they have more say in the way the game is run. All about maximising advertising revenue.

That’s all well and good and it’s admittedly impressive effort..

The final of last year’s Championship was in front of less than 20,000 spectators and rated abysmally because of a distinct lack of ARLC marketing and promotion.

The ARLC enforces NRL rules and refuses to use neutral Referees. Last night on Foxtel (Probably Voss but I was only half watching) mentioned a player as a ‘Kiwi International.’ No way you would hear that on 9..

I just think more effort should go into the little things that give the appearance of a genuine International competition. I still find it incomprehensible that the ANZAC day match isn’t Australia vs NZ

It really is an afterthought IMHO..
