Agree. It was a mistake by the RFL, NZRL & NRL ending the Tri & 4 Nations concept. The promises the IRL made to 'fill the calendar' have never happened and instead we've ended up with the biggest & most popular Tests barely happening.

The focus should have been on expanding to 5 Nations (which would have been the same number of games as the Tri-Nations) and then having proper qualifiers for the tournament or introducing promotion & relegation with the Euro & Pacific tournaments.
100% agree with this. This hodgepodge of a calendar we have now is killing any interest in the international game.

True, but the most telling stat is play the ball speed, it doesn't matter how many meters are gained if it takes 3 seconds to play the ball, also being no.2 for completions just shows how rigid the Warriors attack was, no offloads or spreading the ball, just hit ups,.which doesn't create many opportunities for halves to attack.

SJ didn't go from the best player in the comp to the worst in a season, if picked for the Kiwis he'd do good.
He's never been a good player though

Kalyn Ponga has made himself unavailable further weakening the Kangaroos. Evidently this will be taken further as his club has a clause that its players must make themselves available for rep footy and if not have to pass certain criteria, which Ponga does not.

Love to see the kiwis go with youth in this year’s competition.

If available players like kini, howarth and willison along with established players like warbrick and Riki.

What irks me about this whole thing is that international Rugby League has been low priority for the people running the game and fans for years and now all of a sudden with a couple of poorly attended and promoted games at the end of the year the players are meant to drop everything and get on board.
The fact that Christchurch has almost sold-out a month before kick-off and we`ve had bugger all shows what the attitude towards internationals is in this country.
The targeting of Kalyn Ponga is Rugby League at its` most small-time and parochial best and if we are not careful we will drive him from the game and that would be a crying shame, he`s the sort of player that makes kids want to play the game.
In fact, on our news here yesterday reporting on a massive junior touch football tournament about to start in Coffs Harbour they were using him as an example of where this tournament might lead to for the participants.
Get a f**king grip, leave the kid alone, build and promote it, and then they`ll be lining up to play.

I just had a look at the recent history of Kangaroos v Kiwis and you want to know why people don’t realise IRL exist!!

Not including October 2019. Australia and NZ have played 3 Tests. 2-1 in favour of the Kangaroos. 3 Tests..

And we all know about England. Last match was the 2017 RLWC Final. Goes to show how important next year’s Lions tour will be!!
Sorry, when people write IRL, I think Ipswich Rugby League
