I said it last year I’ll say it again but they really need to beef up the schedule to get the most out of this window.

NZ, Fiji, Tonga & Samoa could have all played warm up games last weekend minus GF players. Top tier should be 4 teams to double the amount of games pre-final. Involve Lebanon in a warm up and/or playing a ‘bye week’ team.

Plenty of options, 8 games total over 4 weeks for 6 teams in the definition of doing the bare minimum. 10 games for 8 teams if we include England & Samoa.

So, realistically

Will tomorrows game be close? As much as I would love to see Tonga reproduce 2019, that was a game played under very different rules (no 6 again!).

Can’t see how Australia don’t win, say 36-16.

I agree with what was said above that it’s weird that teams don’t play every week. It drags things out for the tournament and the players.

Would that really be such a bad score line.

I feel like everyone doesn't rate tonga's chances tonight which is crazy because they have a legit halfback in the spine, one of the best forwards in the game and most of these guys have played together with Tonga. Kangaroos has Moses who is a class player but he hasn't played in 3 months! I won't be surprised if Tonga wins tonight tbh

Yeo is the best half playing tonight

They'd have been better inviting England and France into these two years of tournaments and having a decent number of 'local' games to watch live on a weekend.

Could have been for 23/24:
Eng
Aus
Nz
Tonga
Samoa

PNG
Fiji
France
Cook Is

4 games a weekend plus women's games

then Aus tour Eng and France in 2025
with Nz, Tonga, Samoa, PNG, Fiji in a 5 nation pacific cup

2026 RLWC

that would have been a much better schedule imo

Australia will be smarting after last years embarrassing final. I suspect it may be a blood bath unless Tonga can hold them in first 30min.

I would be shocked if Australia covers the 16.5 start. Tonga have a point to prove after their average tour last year
