2 ODI's ahead.

Personally, I'd like to see McCullum rested again today and then Williamson rested in the second match.

I'd go with this team today-

Guptill
Latham
Williamson
Taylor
Elliot
Anderson
Ronchi
N. McCullum
Mills
Milne
McClenaghan

I'd give Vettori as much game time as possible, I don't mind N.McCullum but don't really see him in the mix.

Mills hasn't done a whole lot to impress me either.

To be fair to Milne he has been out injured for a couple of weeks.

Milne is a luxury for McCullum. A genuine pace option. He won't be used in every game... But I think he will be useful against the tail of sides and especially against the Minnows... They aren't comfortable against anything above 145 clicks.

Edit- I just realised you said Mills not Milne... My bad

Mills needs more games too and was used weirdly in the last game, should open for more than 3?overs on the normal course of things

Mills has given excellent service over the years, but right now I don't really see what Mills offers that someone like Southee doesn't.

There isn't room for both in the team, might as well have given Henry a run instead.

NZ will bowl

NZ XI: B McCullum (c), Anderson, Boult, Elliott, Guptill, Latham, N McCullum, Mills, Milne, Ronchi (wk), Taylor.

Meth wasn't far off, with Boult coming in instead of McClenaghan

Mills gets Younis Khan off a front foot no-ball

Riddle me this, how many undetected no-balls has Mills bowled so far today which have gone unnoticed?
I doubt this is the very first of the day, clearly umpires are not even looking for it.

I'd like to see an experiment where one ball per over (so fifty balls in total) are chosen at random and checked for a no-ball throughout the day. I reckon the umpires are missing plenty.

Anderson is the mystery to me. He seems like such an ordinary bowler, but is picking up more than his fair share of his wickers. Gets Sohail in his first over

Umar Akmal. What a bizarre career. Looked like the next Tendulkar in 2009, but hasn't done much since.

whoa Ian Smith has got some issues with Steve Waugh. What did Waugh say about Smith in his autobiography?

Yeah he's one of those guys that will have a really bad day and give you a 10-0-0-90 type performance among good ones. Both he and McClenaghan rip through the wicket talley but I don't really rate either as particularly great bowlers.

Like the other famous Akmal he's pretty damn good when he chooses to be, and when not in the mood he's atrocious. Top two inches with him, all the natural talent is there.

McCullum's (of the Brendan variety) hands have been quite poor this summer. Dropping Afridi is asking for trouble. Six next ball.
