Were definitely on the backfoot with recruitment though, Widdop is the 1 exception, we didnt see that one coming... the rest (including Bennett) have fallen into our laptops or been 3rd choice discards (Even Thompson was the #3 choice at Canberra, as was Sam Williams).

There have been big name forward signings this last 2 years, we dont seem to be in the picture.. though to be fair with our current coach and track history you can understand why we would have difficulty.... the only attractor we have is the cheque book, and we have only done that once, throwing money at Duges, which tbh I was concerned at then, and still am now, big money, long 4yr contract, low motivation, injury-prone, it was a terribly done deal considering we took all the risk and still ended up paying top dollar based on at the time 3 big games by Dugan.

Edit: Server me right for taking an hour to post.. you all said the same thing lol

I lol'd.
The digital age has arrived and taken over.

League live app shows that Tim Grant got dropped for Sika Manu for tonight's game against parra and clearly was quizzed over his future with the panthers. I think DOUSTY and Co should get off the backside and make an offer or an approach. After lastnight game, coming off out line in attack was a struggl and at times we struggled to make big meters. A big man and player like him would Come in handy.

I agree, would be a great buy and would not cost an arm and leg.

I'm sure the dragons got the cash. Sometimes it's not a bad idea spending some money on a player who has played in big games such as Grant. He has size and experience. Also has played SOO. Lastnights game showed we are lacking a big name forward and our go forward at times wasn't great.

Absolutely... This would be a huge signing. And I hearing he could leave this year. But I also keep hearing how cash strapped we are and I am unaware as to our salary cap situation.

Pretty sure it was published that Klemmer resigned with the dogs for around $300k a season a year ago or so - prob more likely at that price that they'll let kasiano go

I keep hearing the same thing... does anyone have any knowledge regarding our financial state??

The salary cap is issued as a grant from the NRL and is a mandated spend. No excuses not to secure players under the cap.
It's all the other ancillary costs associated with running a RL team that the club has to fund itself.

They apparently signed him for over 300k a season before he had even played a game. He will cost us if we want him, and at that price, he just isn't close to worth it.

Grant this year on a four year deal and Kasiano from 2015 on.

Run on forwards:
Grant, Rein, Stockwell, Creagh, Thompson and Merrin.

Off the bench:
Kasiano, De Belin, Cooper and Garvey

Now this is a big mobile pack of forwards that can dominate most sides in the NRL.

Doust needs to play the same game that the Dogs and Roosters are playing. Get some third party sponsors to supplement the salaries of our star players; Dugan, Morris, Nightingale, Widdop, Merrin, Creagh plus Grant and Kasiano.

If Doust can't do this, then get someone in that can get it done.

Has doust shown he can do this anytime in his tenure ?
