Have to feel for the current crop of 20's. Have been severely let down from penrith, they dont get that time back again.

Another thing where's our speed? Everytime a ball is spilled or our we break the line we go no where?? We should have speedy wingers at the least. I can't think of 1 time we have run down someone in the opposition

I have to agree, know a few of the boys and listen to what they say. I don't know alot about Alex Melville but he has made some funny selections at times.
He is known to have brain explosions at training, abusing players and telling them to leave and don't come back over the sillest of things. I don't believe too many respect him and I think that shows on the field.

Murray. I know last year in the 15's we turned up to sign atleast 10 players gf day only to be too late. If this has been the normal for the last 5 years. It's no wonder we have struggled.

Buhrer, Horo, Fifita are 3 that spring too mind as falling through the net

Mick Sejika (Harry's Dad) dropped Jack Wighton in Mulhollands lap about 3-4 years ago and he didnt want him,he (Jack) has done quite well since.

Funny thing is Bulldogs (Mulhollands new club) chased him after that.

Yet another example. The main problem seems to be we aren't as desperate as other clubs. As a result just sit back as we have so many to choose from. We should now be signing the 20 odd best 18yo we have for next year's NYC & so on. It may take a few years but a junior dinasty can be built

tbf this is a good Cowboys side.

Cowboys u20s were favourites to win the premiership at the start of the season weren't they?

So don't feel bad about the panthers u20s losing. Save that feeling for when the first grade side lose 50-0...:D

U20 Panthers forwards stat's against Cowboys today.

#10 Hollis 6 runs for total 42 metres
#8 Stewart 7 runs total 54 metres
#11 Grace 3 runs total 18 metres
#12 Eisenhuth 7 runs total 66 metres
#13 Horton 2 runs total 18 metres
#18 Curtis 3 runs total 18 metres

Alex Melville must address this area if the forwards are only producing these figures, need more go forward.
Agree that the Cowboys are a good team, but our forwards just are not performing.

Do our forwards require some specialist coaching or are they just too small or too young.

They are. It wasn't a case of getting outclassed like against an equally good Melbourne. There was dummy halves scoring with 4 markers. Not many worked tries. Most very soft. We lost to the Titans, Newcastle prior to this. Neither I would call a top team.

Not size. The whole team is huge. We need speed outwide & the halves too spread it. The forwards need to offload & run on to it. They are always flat footed.

Someone should be in jail for our juniors being so bad!

It's hard to believe our youngsters can be so poor.

This is clearly an area our Director of Football Mr Gould need's to fix urgently.

I don't get to see too many of the 20's games, but sounds like Melville better watch his arse or Gus might be kicking it all the way out the door.

Well I actually was looking forward to him coming back given his success before. I rate our 13,12,11 & Austin that's it. No attack or defence. The funny thing is 1 of the crisitims of Elliott was not using juniors. How can you pick any on current form??

As funny as it sounds that may be part of the problem is right.

Penriths biggest mistake is the way they pick their teams in the first place. They send selectors out to about 4 random games during the year and think they can pick the best side from that. Sometimes a player maybe sick or injured and will not even be seen by the selectors. They would be better off letting the club or coach send his best 4 or 5 players for an open trial. This system along with the current system would be far more effective. For one you would have all the selectors together and you would have the best players playing each other. I know they tried something similar this year, but some clubs had no players represented. The players that trialed were only the selectors choice.

Yes I liked the look of Eisenhuth & Horton early on in the season, but the last couple of games both have been ordinary, stats for go forward have been ordinary. Having said that, the front rowers have been very poor, especially Stewart's metres gained.

Maybe the opposition teams have just been better in defence, hard to tell if you don't get to see the games, but the stats usually speak for themselves.

I believe its the way all penrith junior teams are coached, they think the big polnesian boys are going to run rough shod over all the other sides, they dont really know the quality of some of their juniors in their own backyard. The 20,s coach is struggling and his assistant couldnt coach a choko vine over a fence. I heard that Parra have not offered jobs to the successfull matts coaches 2009 GF2010 GF 2011 1/4 FINALIST
maybe Jim Jones should sound them out.

Jim Jones has been stripped of all his duties with regard to Matts, Ball and NYC. He no longer has any responsibility for Penrith junior local players, he has been given a role to attend schoolboy competitions and the like outside the district and to maybe find a player or two?? or maybe leave all together?? better late than never!!!!
