Anyone else get the feeling the incidents with the Raiders might come back to haunt us this weekend? It’s sure gunna be a hostile reception, just hope when the game plays out they might have run out of puff.

Bring it on. Better than a dull just going through the motions win

Very good bomber though.

I think he will bring the toys out during the finals. We had some tricks up our sleeve last year. 5-6 weeks off for the halves is plenty of time to figure out some set plays. Plenty of video work. Cleary isn't injured either so he can put it into practice straight away.

We certainly look to have a few more gears to go through

Who do you lot think Turuva is coming in for.we can not afford to lose our wing strike power
Perhaps they may look at moving Edwards into the halves and Turuva at fullback

Dylan is finally ballplaying at a decent level, would be insane to move him

He will be on the bench for Staines. I don't see how he gets any game time though

Nope.
That will play right into our hands.
The Raiders have been failing to finish games all year. The worst thing they could for themselves is go hard early and burn energy.
Thus will be a solid test. But I think we have the team and game style to grind out a close win

Semi Final style footy now helps us

Yes because we don't need kick meters. That's a stat for teams under pressure

I agree so we need to measure the halves against other areas.

For example O'Sullivan had his 1st lost for us on the weekend, He is ave 350 kick metres a game.

Which is why I am hoping the halves will come up with some new set moves while they are out.

Instead of Staines on the bench. He will come in against tired forwards and run amok.

Not sure what position. Perhaps move Tago to 2nd row and replace with Turuva for a short time.

Your right it's going to be a tough game. Especially with a ferel crowd behind them.

If Penrith are able to defend well, play good percentage footy, and run those big monster canberra forwards around......we should win.

It will be a test of character and the systems the club has in place.

He should start booting the ball dead to rack up those kick metres.

Did I say that?

All part of us evolving as team though. We are winning territory with less kick metres now so now it is how to get over the line more from that

The fans wil be baying for blood. The Raiders will get too excited and give away too many penalties. Our finals experience will help us keep calm.

The stats available to the general public for the NRL are mostly useless IMO.

Unless you can precisely filter each by position on the field, time on the clock, score differential etc then they are very broad strokes.

For example a missed tackle on a kick chase shows up the same as a missed tackle one on one on the try line.

I love stats as much as the next person but the analytics available for free just aren't there. As far as I'm aware there is no way to do csv dumps from NRL.com or Fox to do your own analysis.

I assume the clubs have access to far more detailed information and can game plan around it. If the club doesn't know that winger A defending on block plays comes in x % of time then they are negligent in their coaching.

I’m all for improving but evolution; really? I don’t really understand how you set your expectations. We have scored the most points in the comp. We have let in the least (by some distance).

It isn’t razzle dazzle, but a big part of that is handing the ball back to the opposition between their 10-20 yard line in the corner. Strangle them out of the game.

We have scored less tries than Storm, Their poor goal kicking is why we have the best attack. T

Teams know it is coming though and we don't seem to have a fallback for if someone is staying in the fight.

We have the 2nd least errors in the comp, I'd gladly have a couple of extra errors if it mean't more offloads or linebreaks

We sit 3rd for linebreaks
8th for Dummy half runs
12th for offloads

They are the areas that could be worked on to make the attack less predictable should a side get an even share of possession.

That is the area that needs the evolution. Our kick chase and back 3 on kick returns will get us the field possession needed

Re stats I absolutely hate what they have on NRL.com. They should allow fans access to CSV files as suggested so they can nerd out.

It would also put some of the media analysts on notice for once. Those guys should be looking at those numbers and drawing insights for fans and some of them sound like they are too busy eating meat pies watching the game.
