Parallel's between NRL and NFL teams

I know the NFL has double the amount of teams the NRL does, but I'd like to get the opinion of posters of who they can relate an NRL team in the NFL.

For me Newcastle would be similar to Pittsburgh. A steel town forged on huge home town support from working class people.

Melbourne would be equivalent to the Ravens. A team who plays in purple and are very tough to beat every year.

Cronulla would be equivalent to the Raiders. They suck every year and show no signs of improvement. :lol:

Oakland is nothing like Cronulla - at least we've won the damn thing...No offense to Sharks fans...

I actually compare Oakland to Parramatta - mighty successful many years ago, but been mediocre since.

I would have said Souths were like Detroit--- working class area, traditional team and won things a while back but in recent times have been pretty terrible and always down the bottom--- but at least souths are showing signs of improvement ;)

I could also see slight comparisons between the Giants/Jets and Roosters/Souths--- both big city teams with alot of media pressure although they dont have the rivalry that Souths/Roosters do but they do have both teams playing out of ones hoe stadium which used to be the case with Souths/Roosters.

So I support Wests and a Parramatta like team :crazy:

This means the Raiders will be in the Super Bowl this year :D

Not if Russell keeps playing...Although maybe they'll do a Parramatta and our back-up will step up and take us to a Super Bowl...:sarcasm:

Another reason that they are similar: Parramatta [were] run by an old dinosaur in Fitzgerald; Oakland are run by an old dinosaur in Davis.

Melbourne - Patriots

Both run by the best coach in the business, always competitive and some of the best skilled position players in the game.

I actually liken the Knights to the Vikings.

Back around 2002-04 we had both had key MVP like players (Johns, Moss/Culpepper) and always looked good because of them but always had a sh*t record heading into finals, we wouldnt dominate all year but capable of beating anyone.

sh*t coach brought in a new hard nose tactical one that cleaned us up and weve struggled for a new halfback/quarterback since.

yea Storm/Pats is a good one

I think Phili - Saints is close, both good sides for a long time but cant seem to get over the final hurdle

Broncos last year were like the Tigers, would pull anything out had the best offense but couldn't defend for sh*t.

Now we're more like the Dragons, clinical, knitty gritty, mistake free football.

sharks dont suck every year. we were equal first 2 seasons ago.

anyway.

Parra - 49ers.
golden periods in the 80s. nothing either side

San Diego - Cronulla. good looking jerseys. hot cheerleaders. Delapidated stadiums. live by the beach. not much in the trophy department. LT, ET? Mr T?

Rabbitohs - Oakland. Famous colours. done bothing for years.

Philly - St George. well know team that never wins it.

Brisbane - Pittsburgh. 6 championships each. complete professionals.

Melbourne - Patriots. Good coaches. well organised. evil.

Green Bay - Newcastle. Hard working team from a hard working town.

Houston Texans - New Zealand. largely dissapointing newer teams in big football areas.

Giants - Bulldogs. Traditionally mean defensive teams.

Yep, there are no teams more alike than Melbourne and New England. both teams win Championships but both teams take Cheating to a new level and have f**kwit coaches.

Brisbane = Cowboys

Both are big, successfull teams and both basically have the whole state behind them.
What's the basis of the whole state thing that Broncos fans go around saying?
I see more Titans and Cowboys jumpers in brisbane as it is - That statement might have been true like 20 years ago..

I think the Boys' are more like Parramatta, were a powerhouse a long time ago but just can't get their sh*t together lately.

I'd agree with most of these.

Dophins could also be a Souths team.
Roosters = Detriot Lions
Tigers = Tampa Bay
Cowboys = Bengals/Cardinals
