Parra Board to lobby StadiumTrust

Just to let you know, I spoke to Ovo this morning who advised that he has spoken to the Board Members at Parramatta and they will be lobbying in writing the Parramatta Stadium Trust to reverse their decision on the Ray Price Lounge.

Obviously Ovo will not be able to vote as there would be seen to be a conflict of interests, but he is very hopeful they will listen the views expressed by the Parramatta Leagues Club Board. This was a matter that the club was not in a posiiton to influence the decision given the make up of the Board, most of whom were, I understand, appointed by the State Govt.

On another matter, a young lady who works for me, was out with the boys last week ( Hayne, Inu , Mateo etc) and she was led to believe that both boys off contract in 09 intend to resign with Parra. Will be inetresting to see if that comes off, but she knows them reasonably well and said they both said the same thing.:)

Question.

Fitzy is on the stadium trust, yes?

I imagine they circulate an agenda, or was possibly even discussed at an earlier meeting?

Why wouldnt we do something at that point when it first appears on the radar?

Good to know Delboy, thanks.

though doesn't it seem convenient for them to pull the 'conflict of interest' thing out now? Isn't Parra being the major tennant, and the stadium being a business another major conflict? Why even have these guys on the trust?

I'm curious to know that if two of our men are on the Stadium Trust board, why can't they broker us a better deal on the hiring rights of the Stadium?

Surely they wouldn't be popular with the other board members after taking two games to telstra next year?

Supposition, what if they didn't.

I would think this would be a conflict of interest for you Fish. State Gov Vs Parramatta Eels.

Do you guys think that them actually being part of the trust in general is automatically a conflict of interest?

well it is interesting isn't it? we've seen 2 highly unusual events occour at the club which innidiately affected the ST..

- The 2 games moved to Telstra.

- The public backlash over the naming of the Lounge.

I would say that things will get even more interesting when the club starts to negotiate it's new lease from 09 onwards.

Hmmm... Good news. I wonder if they underestimated the publics reaction over this whole thing, and are now back pedalling really fast

I'd be surprised if they didnt. IMO, it would raise questions as to the manner in which the board is run. I would have thought an agenda be circulated. Even previous minutes. I would be curious to know whether this was/has been discussed before and if it did appear as an item on a circulated agenda.

No. Sorry. No conflict. I jumped the SS Iemma Titanic.

Being the only real tenant limits our bargaining power IMO.

The same trust that runs Telstra is the same one that runs the Parramatta Stadium - some different board members but same trust. Overall it probably wouldn't make much of a difference seeing that the main focus for the state government trust seemingly is making Telstra less of a white elephant.
