Well done Parra on winning as many games as u did this year to go from second last to 7th , but after yesterdays performance u guys r done for the year.

No front rowers to get the go forward for the backline for fire. Brisbane pretty much ran over the top of u guys all day yesterday. Defense looked poor, Brad Thorne's try was a perfrect example. Defence like that will not take u anywhere in finals footy.

Jeremy Smith injuryed means having to get a few halfback who will need to to create a new combination with Jonny Morris in the space of 1 game before the finals.

Parra will also probable finish 7 or 8th now which besides 7th that have got up on the odd occastion in finals footy, 7 and 8th r really just making up the numbers.

9 out of Parramatta's 12 wins this year has been aganist teams placed lower then they r, so i can't see them challanging Manly, Melbourne, Bulldogs or Newcastle.

we've already dusted Manly and Newcastle as part of our 9 in a row, but at least then we had some props and a premmy league half back

the cupboards pretty bare now

wernt parra in 2nd last when they stared there winning streak? so saying most of the teams have been placed lower then them is BS...

Parra smashed newcastle and beat manly this year....

weve only lost 2 front rowers since the 9 game winning streak so hmmmm..

And finally anything is possible in the NRL... except cronulla winning the comp...

I wouldn't rule Parra out just yet. They may be low on cattle, but for what Jason Taylor has achieved this year, nothing would surprise me.

 You idiot.

If you think Parra are gone after one loss you're kidding yourself.

Personally if they face us in week one, I'm worried.

As much as I admire what Parra have done, it's gonna be incredibly hard without props.

Vella and Tim Smith are possibilities to take the field on Friday night. Timana Tahu is a good chance of being back for the first final. A few troops returning could help us face the Doggies first week who are missing a few themselves at the moment......they have lost the first game of the finals the last three times.

If we don't win a game from here on in I'm not going to lose sleep over it like I did after the Cowboys loss last year. After the start that we had just to be in the eight is an acheivement.

Of course it is going to be tough without props...

But write off any of the top 8 at your own peril, they are all in with a chance... 2 weeks time is a long time in the NRL at the moment... The Dogs were beating by a bigger margin the week before, have they been written off yet?

parra are screwed.

they've run out of yardage men.

it's plain sh*t luck.

having said that - no one should take away from a remarkable turnaround - there is obviously character in that club!

Not according to the Channel 9 Commentary team he isn't. Out for the season they said.

According to the man himself and one of the training staff there is a good chance he'll be back for the first week.....

They are in the semis. Anything can happen from there.

If the team they play against has the same attitude as yours, then they will be in for a struggle of a game.

Hard to argue with the initial post, the lack of forwards and now no 7 will be a slog, but stranger things have happened...theres still another round with only Newcastle able to relax, every other team in the 8 risks injury to critical players.

Parra should never of had a winning streak that long. They were gifted the game against the Raiders due to Russell Smith being a moron. Widders stripped the ball off Withers over the line in a two man tackle, (shoulda been a penalty try ffs) which stopped Withers from scoring and equaling the game....It should of went into Golden Point where the Raiders are unstoppable.

They haven't really beaten anyone impressive in the rest of the streak. They were never a threat, even if they had their full squad available.

Tahu set for surprise return for Eels
Monday, August 28, 2006 - 4:02 PM

Parramatta received some much-needed good news on the injury front after Test star Timana Tahu indicated he may be back for the second week of the NRL finals.

Tahu has been sidelined since injuring his knee in the State of Origin decider on July 5 and it was initially thought he wouldn't play again this year.

But the 25-year-old participated in the Eels' recovery session at Granville pools in western Sydney on Monday and indicated he could be back in three weeks time.

"I'm hoping it will be in week two of the finals but it may be in week three," Tahu told AAP.

"Week two is the best-case scenario."

The news is a massive boost for the injury-ravaged Eels after halfback Jeremy Smith (fractured hand - season) joined a bulging casualty ward which includes props Nathan Cayless (eye socket) Aaron Cannings (shoulder), Justin Tsoulos (shoulder) and Paul Stringer (back - retired).

In further good news, front rower Michael Vella is rated a good chance of returning for Friday's match against North Queensland, while Adam Peek (jaw) will find out if he will play again this year when he visits the specialist on Tuesday.

Halfback Tim Smith could be back for the Townsville clash, while winger Eric Grothe declared himself a certain starter against the Cowboys after overcoming a neck strain.

Manly halfback Matt Orford (knee) is hopeful of being fit for Saturday's blockbuster against minor premier Melbourne, while captain Ben Kennedy's quadriceps injury will be monitored throughout the week.

"They are getting treatment and (coach) Des (Hasler) will make a call later in the week," said Sea Eagles football manager Peter Peters.

"Ox (Orford) is confident of playing, but we won't do anything about BK (Kennedy) till later in the week."

Peters confirmed backrower Anthony Watmough would definitely play against the Storm despite aggravating a shoulder injury during Friday's win over the Bulldogs.

News could be better before the start of Friday nights game - Vella, Peek and Tim Smith will be a wecome sight.
