REP PLAYERS NAMED FOR EELS V PANTHERS
Tuesday 29 April 2008

Pirtek Parramatta Eels head coach Michael Hagan has named all five of the Eels City v Country representatives in his team to play Penrith on Saturday night at CUA Stadium.
Country’s Brett Finch and Nathan Hindmarsh along with City representatives Jarryd Hayne, Feleti Mateo and Chad Robinson have all been named in a 19 man squad which also features hooker Mark Riddell, who missed the Eels round six loss to Manly with a sterno-clavicular injury.
The return of Riddell has been tempered by injury to interchange forward Josh Cordoba, who is expected to miss around six weeks after sustaining an AC joint injury in training.
Hagan says he’s hopeful all five representative players will back up after the City-Country clash.
“Ideally you’d like to get through unscathed, however it’s a big ask,” Hagan said.
“We’ve named a six man bench in an attempt to cover all options as we recognise that this is a vital match.
“Both teams are coming off the bye so both will be relatively fresh, which will help compensate for the fact we’ll have some tired legs out there as a result of City-Country.
“Penrith have been in fairly good form, they won away last start, so they’ll be tough and we know that.”
Saturday’s match is also a milestone in the career of fullback Luke Burt, who is just one point shy of his 1000 First Grade points in a career that spans some 155 games stretching back to his debut in round one of 1999.
Burt has scored 45 points from six matches in 2008, bagging two tries, 18 goals and a field goal to take his career tally onto 999 (from 76 tries, 347 goals, and one field goal).

I would expect a lot of changes when the side actually runs on. Of course the City-Country match may necessitate several changes.

Outside of the one or two changes in the past as a result of injury or a switch of Moimoi and Riddell back to the bench how many changes are generally made to the team?

Good to see Joey Mataele get another go in NYC.

And it is good to see Oakey back. From all reports he has earned his spot back in the top grade.

interesting to see that Cammo is persisting with Williams in the centres, at this point in time that is definitely his rightful position.

Definitely a better way to get him involved..... worked well with SBW, Ben Creagh, Tonie Carroll, Darren Smith.....

Good to see the same old side being trotted out  Hagan might make some changes by August.

I am sure the coach knows better than all of us, but that team simply reminds me of the definition of insanity. At least JT has been changing things to try and find a win.
