Parra v Dogs Game thread

It looked like our plan b (plan a is pass it to Semi) last night was to throw it to Paulo. f**k we looked terrible in attack, just embarrassing.

Didn't look like they had trained together all week or year for that matter.

Would be nice to be able to play the Dogs style of defence and get away with it though, they are allowed to work and work and work in the tackles aren't they? We don't look fit enough to be able to match it with them.

One positive, imagine how nice it will be to not have to cover for Sandownin defence next year. Do they count the attempts he makes where he just runs passed players as missed tackles? He has been exceptionally awful the last 4 or 5 games in that area!

Which tries?

The ones where Lussick didnt bother sliding, and got run right past?

Not saying Moeroa was without fault, but Pritchards first, and Jacksons try were both Lussick being lazy and not sliding.

Won't disagree but from my viewing last night it seem Moeroa was partly to blame. But he will get better still on my young. But Lussick has no excuses

The forwards did their job but when one half is just a passenger of course our attack is going to be shit. Normally on our spreading the ball wide moves Sandow would actually run the ball a bit, he didn't even try to run it, not once. f**ken disgraceful, even his kicks to the winger were taken standing still - that makes no room what so ever for our winger. The opposition just knew we would kick.

Sandow was the difference last night between losing and either winning / or coming close. Any decent half back last night would have gone all right behind our pack.

There is bugger all in the stats between the two sides last night apart from them making a few line breaks ( missed tackles were very similar). While they made a few more metres but the Morris try and a couple line breaks contributed to that not their forwards being better.

Junior Paulo 53 mins
19 runs (199m)
1 Try Assist
2 Tackle Breaks
28 Tackles

How good is this kid going to be ?

Very good. A few of our forward made 100plus metres. Mannah / Watmough / Gower / Manu. While Pauli would have to if he wasn't concussed.

disagree - you watch it again ... jackson was running sideways - only way there was a gap is cos tepai popped up out of the line - so a sideways runner slots through the staggered line ..... I'm not saying lussick is blameless, he probably should have pushed more, but tepai made the gap

Really?

I just watched again, Jackson doesnt get to where Moeroa was because Lussick doesnt slide across. Just runs past the spot where the slide defender would have been....

Carbon copy of Hokkas linebreak leading to the first try.

He's an absolute beast, he's already our best forward. By quite a way.

No doubt his 400 game suspension hurt us early in the season!! He is fantastic, huge, but rarely gets the wraps of our other young forwards.

Keep it quiet so we can keep him cheap.

honestly - moeroa pops out of the line .... the worst thing you can do when a player is running sideways across field is leave a staggered line ..... you need to keep your line intact - inside players shouldn't slide too far or you risk the guy running sideways slipping an inside ball to a runner, outside players shouldn't pop out of the line or you leave a hole to run through

I'm not trying to make excuses for lussick - he can f**k off to manly .... I'm not trying to hang shit on moeroa - he's a quality defender and is only young, but he really needs to learn to play a team defence and keeping a solid line is one of those things ... he has been overly keen and popped out of the line a few times this year - its just something he needs to learn

Lussick is also struggling with his knee. He will need surgery at the end of the season unless he does more damage to it before now and then.

watching the replay - I think it was obvious he was injured ... he clearly struggled to get to his feet plenty of times and was limping

didn't see heartless sandow limp once .... I guess its hard to limp when you are standing still doing nothing

Wow, what a game. What a mess. Makes me sad. And angry.

Moving on, I will tempt fate and mention that Blake Austin is paying $17 for fts at Luxbet, or $9 at betstar.com.au, who will pay out in first AND second try, and also if a try is disallowed by the video ref.

I'm not reading through this whole thread but what's the talk been re that grub Reynolds foot trip last night? He's got form for it that's for sure. And to be expected, quiet as f**k on the Dogs site.
