My two cents regarding Paulo is that he is a good player, but he really, really needs to fix his defence. He is a big bloke, and he plays in the forwards - no excuses. He needs to muscle up in D.

As for his crabbing - it's annoying, sure. But if we get bodies in motion, it works. Few times last year he put blokes into space.

I think Sef is a valuable part of our team, but he really needs to work on his defence.

I doubt Paulo will be anywhere near our halves tbh.

He might play some minutes there when we shift Kelly to hooker to give Peats a rest (for example), but I doubt he would waltz in ahead of Kelly, Sandow, Norman and even Hayne.

I don't think Paulo would go any worse than Sandow or Kelly to be honest. Still think at 14 off bench running hard is his spot.He can ball play a bit too but like mateo when he over ball played it didn't work.Once he got his running game going again Mateo was back.

The fact is we let Mateo go for Sandow, makes me cringe when I think Maloney and mateo could be our halves.
Maloney I can deal with losing as we didn't know hw good he would be but mateo was it.We saw his talent, the fans loved him and for me what a balls up letting him leave the club. He should of been priority after Hayne, we held onto Hindy, ben smith and let our most promising player go.And the worse part was he would of stayed for around 300k.Oh and we signed Mortimer over him

The Warriors offered him a boatload of money and hookers. We wouldn't compete, or we would stuff up our cap.

But we signed Mortimer over him, we re-signed Ben smith.2 yrs prior people should have had Mateo as a must keep.

I also want to quickly add that Daniel Mortimer is a Premiership winner and World Club Champion....
much like late 2009, he is in good form while playing in a team that dominates. Much like every other role player in any well performed team. He was rubbish in 2011 when roosters sucked and would have continued to stink if he had stayed at parra. Mortimer fills a role. I doubt whether he will ever be a guy you can look to to make a positive game defining play.

Good luck to him though. He seems to have found a home.

You're right. But I was trying to say that he contributes.

He's not a star, by any means. But he contributes to a good team.

not sure about 14. I think he's better suited to 16.

And no, we didn't let Mateo go for sandow. There's a bunch of reasons we couldn't keep mateo that have been mentioned on this forum, you can decide which ones are right and wrong. It's all moot at this point and the club and us supporters need to let arfers do his job to try move forward.

BA is a rookie coach. People seem to think he is our savior. Im interested how it will go for him as I know nothing about him. But Neil Henry was my choice for the job and next was steve folks. BA doesn't seem the cluey in his interviews lol

Agree. But for the record Mortimor actually was rubbish for us in 2011 not the Roosters. He's the kind of player that can complement a side, like all good support players and good utilities can do.

Mortimer was never good at parra. He supported well, that's all.I for one didn't want to re-sign him.I was telling friends have you actualy seen him put anyone in a hole from a nice pass?
Like it or not Tim Smith was streak above any halfback we have had in years. And lets be honest-Jeff Robson is on par with Kelly and Sandow on small amount of money

Didn't wAtch the game last night but appears Paulo played lock for most of the second half - if true I will guess that this was a major reason why manly got back into the game - he attack may be good but his defence is terrible. !! Manly would have killed him.

Brad Arthur has been a captain coach for 20 years and has worked under successful systems at Melbourne and Manly. He's also worked in unsuccessful systems like ours between 2011-2012 though so kind of negates the former. I think he actually comes across well spoken in interviews, at least he's honest and realistic but in a positive way unlike Ricky Stuart, and doesn't come across like a clueless braindead moron unlike Steve Kearney.
