parra vs manly trial 2

Paulo is as big if not a bigger defensive liability than Sandow. Playing 1 of them is a risk, play both of them and you're automatically conceding 24 points. Throw is Vai Tautai and you'll be lucky to stay under 40.

SK worked under the same system yeah?

Look our biggest issue is recruits.Look at what Cleary and Gould has done going into there 3rd year in comparison to us since SK. Which means we have had an extra year. They had a plan - jenning-lewis-gordon bye and began the build -Every signing at a reasonable price and not on overs!
3 yrs on what have we actualy done? Signed 2 average halfbacks, harrison, an old centre past his best and watched a few guys retire. We did recruit a few promising players but paid overs for them. The thing is do we have a plan? The decisions have been simple ones as far as guys we have let go.I mean Reni and Mk and M ryan.Wow tough decisions.
I basically rely on Hayne and our Jnrs, not recruiting. Not since Brian SMith left.Signing big names for overs even if they turn out well isn't exactly smart recruiting.

whare-segyaroo-brown-sika manu-john- roberts- what I call smart recruiting. Than they added Elijah taylor-kite-Wallace-Peachey-k.naqiuama-idris-soward. In idris they have a cult figure. I doubt any of these guys are on overs.Just how phill rolls.
And how ever good hoppa and Norman or peats turn out.We paid overs for them and they all will effect our salary cap in other areas for this reason. And so the cycle continues.
We could have a 500k player in reserves for 2 more yrs.Add Harrison on close to 200k and wonder why we cant compete? Our organization is hopeless. We have dimwits involved running the club and until this changes well the cycle continues. We have no plan just simple men with simple ideas trying to patch up a broken machine with band aids

You know I said the exact same thing to you last year in your thread you started saying we're in a better position than about 12 other sides to win a comp... you said we were in a better shape than Penrith and I recall telling you Penrith are about 12 months ahead of where we are in the rebuilding process after you singled them out for being a team on the slide ;-)

Penrith haven't done anything yet.

Absolutely.
You can say that they have recruited well by judging past performances of the players they are bringing to the club, but we have no idea how they will actually work out for them.

We recruited very well for the 2010 season but as it turned out Poore, Tahu and Shackleton turned out to be duds.

BA said that our completion rate in the 2nd half was 65%. No wonder Manly caught up so quickly when their guns came on.

As good as Manly's 1/2's are, the real difference between the good sides and us is their completion rate and defence. South's D in the charity shield was extraordinary. They repelled StG time and time again. Thow in a completion rate of 85%+ and you have a formidable side.

True I thought they had a poor spine , with no 1,,7 & 9.
We had Hayne at the start of last year, Sandow who I believed would still come good so just a hooker and we could build a team.
But a year later Hayne is injury prone,Sandow isn't the answer, whilst Walsh out played most halfback,Segyaroo proved to be a gun and Moylan looks a good fullback. Now they have Wallace and Soward who are questionable, BUT if they shine can win comp.

I think now we have a genuine 1 & 9.Halfbacks still the killer and I also under estimated the importance of good forwards. But I still have some faith in ours.

Oh yes we signed Poore and Tahu and than had to let Mateo go cause we didn't think ahead.Whoops.

Well they where faves for spoon, but just missed 8 , won under 20's and runners up in NSW cup.Its a club on the rise but the soward and Wallace signings are the only questionable ones for me(perhaps panic)

We should of chases WALSH or JOSH MCRONE

wait so we should have gone for Walsh even though the team that you are talking up about their recruiting didn't think he was worth keeping (Walsh offers little more than a good kickin game near the opposition line and soward is only a slight improvement on that in that he has a decent long kicking game). Walsh is average at best.

And mccrone is just shit full stop.

I'd like to know why our completion rate was so poor.
Was it because we tried to throw the ball around a bit, was Manly's defence causing mistakes or did we just get sloppy?

Can anyone who was at the game give us an idea?

See the above post.. There were several simple mistakes made by some of our senior players

They really were terrible mistakes. Hayne stuffed up playing the ball and Tonga dropped it at dummy half. Both within 15m out from the try line

But in saying that, they are the kind of mistakes that can happen to anyone (even though they shouldn't). Much better than simply soft defence or poor numbering up being the cause of thie loss, because Hanye ans Tonga won't make those mistakes too often (hopefully).

Walsh and mcrone are both above Kelly and Sandow. And both would be 1/3 of cost of sandow.
sandow-> Walsh -> kelly/mccrone (both are ordinary).

Walsh has two things in his favour over sandow. His headspace and he'd be a bit more than half of what the club paid sandow p.a.

If he's in a good place I'd pick sandow ahead of any of the other three without hesitation.
