parra vs manly trial 2

Ffs Morgan isn't first choice winger, I'm not sure why a few on here continue to think that.
He is a centre, he is battling Hoppa and Tonga for the centre spots.

The wing spots are between Sio, hunt, radradra, Folau and Toutai.

With respect, I don't think it is that clear cut. Yes, Morgan is a better centre than winger, but I wouldn't rule out him being selected on the wing. Not saying he will, but don't understand the certainty implied in your post?

All of them, hoplessly outnumbered and sliding on the line. It looked like they hadn't been coached.

It looked like the previous couple of rucks had been quick play-the-balls.

You've got no choice but to slide on your line when you're struggling to get back the ten. Or do you think the players don't know something so simple that you know it?

So, on the Fox news this morning, they said that Luke Kelly is definitely the starting half this year and that Sandow will have to play for Wenty.
I think it's the right way to go. A very tough call on the coach's part. I believe Kelly has improvement in him; he's better defensively than Sandow, and he seems more coachable. If I was the coach I would have made this same decision. I can't see Sandow at 14, either. He can't play hooker (because he can't tackle) and, for mine, moving Sandow to half, Peats to lock and Kelly to hooker is too big a disruption - especially to Kelly. If Arthur has faith in Kelly, he should play half for the whole game.

This. Hooker is probably the key decision maker in the team. Why replace him with an inferior player if he can play 80 minutes?

How many times has Peats actually played 80min in first grade? I know Luke has always been there at Souths but are we just assuming Peats can play 80 or has he actually done it a few times?

I will give Kelly one more chance to prove himself as I will Sandow.
Lets not think Norman will work either.Brisbane rarely let a good one go, and he was playing qld cup. We may see Sandow/Kelly combo . Normans kicking game is ordinary too. And as much as we hope he becomes the next Lockyer well he may end up the next parra flop.He isn't first grade proven as of yet.And hasn't played 5/8 for a while

Mate, Luke Kelly is a virtual novice when it comes to playing half-back in the NRL. His first season was under Ricky Stuart (who did not instil any confidence in the side - he, rather, blamed the players), and behind a very well-beaten pack and playing in a side with absolutely no morale or self-belief. Not only that, but our best player was out for much of the season. A tall order? Mate, if Luke Kelly doesn't improve significantly during the course of this year, I'm a pretty poor judge of things.

Yeah he's done it a few times, both at hooker and in the back row.

If they knew it they would of attempted it, they didn't. At least try and cut them off...

Oh im am just stating Norman isn't a proven quality player, there is no reason sandow or Kelly couldn't pass him cause the 3 all have some sort of ability

I disagree. I think Corey Norman is a proven first-grader; and a very good one, at that.

Well considering Sio has one wing spot all rapped up.
And there is big raps on Folau as a smoky for the other.
But I don't think he will get it yet, either Radradra for round 1 then Hunt when he is fully fit.

I'd rather Morgan play at Wenty if he has to and be first to replace a centre as soon as form goes down or injury. Instead of swapping him with wing and centre throughout the season.

Yes he has been very solid for us for the last couple of years but in saying that Tonga was out most of the season and we didn't have Hoppa.

Fair 'nuff. I can see them picking him on the right wing, with Hoppa inside and them swapping at various stages of the game (partic. while Hoppa is finding his feet). But maybe I'm imagining Hoppa on the wrong side of the field?

I would just put morgan on the wing for his defence - we may lose a bit of go forward in the backs as he arent a natural winger but I would rather stop leaking points. Also if we put him on hoppa's side , hoppa can drop back in defence giving us Hayne / hoppa at the back - both are very good runners of the ball back from kicks and would cause nightmares for the oppositions kicking game. Hard enough trying to avoid kicking it to Hayne but with hoppa back there as well would make it even harder.
