parra vs manly trial 2

I'm not the one making claims about his leadership.

So you don't know him. From what I've seen on the field he goes missing. The only time he aims up with a decent run is when the game is lost / in the last minute of play. In the heat if the battle he gives away too many penalties and avoids the tough stuff. He goes missing.

So assuming our Round 1 side comes from the Manly trial squad we are looking at:

FB - Hayne
Wingers - Folau/Radradra/Sio/Toutai/Morgs
Centres - Hoppa/Tonga
5/8 - Norman
Halfback - Sandow/Kelly
Hooker - Peats
Middle Forward - Mannah/MoiMoi/Lussick/Gower/Pauli
Edge Forward - Edwards/M'au/Jo Paulo/Smith/Terepo
Interchange - ZDC

I'd go with the team in bold, although I'd love for Kelepi to make a round 1 comeback in place of Smith.

I've just assumed that Morgs is no shot at beating Hoppa or Tonga to a centre spot.

Why Morgs on the wing?
I think Folau or Radradra will be the other winger. Im also guessing hunt is currently injured??

Gower? What makes you say that?

On the basis of balance; his slight edge in experience; and his edge in a relationship with the coach.

The pack may look something like this:

Lussick
Smith
Edwards
Mannah
Peats
Moi moi

Then:

J Paulo / Kelly/ docker-clay
Terepo
Pauli

There is already a fair bit of inexperience there already so I'd think with loko mossop and tanginoa unavailable Mau may not get the nod.

Of course it's possible they don't go for an impact player at 14 but even then I think Paulo would get the nod.
The other possibility is that Paul starts on the basis of his World Cup form.

In most games he hasn't made a lot of carries but I'm certain that's because it hasn't been his role. When he is on as the primary go forward man he makes more carries. He wrestles well though. He's probably our best in that area. I wouldn't say he goes missing.

As for leadership, I firmly believe we have lacked for leadership these past few years, and obviously Allgood has been part of that. But he hasn't been a senior player in that time. He's only 24 with 60 games under his belt, so maybe he deserves less blame for our poor leadership than more senior players.

Plus standing up to Matai's bullshit took some balls.

It's unfortunate for Morgan because he doesn't strike me as the sort of player who will make a real success of the wing position. And yet he has been one of our most consistent players. Too good for Wenty.

I heard earlier today that BA might be ok with Kelly at 7 despite his lack of "play making" cause we have strike power supporting him in Norman, Hayne, Hoppa and Tonga.

As I said earlier I'm not convinced that Morgan is the 3rd choice centre. He is young, consistent and always improving whereas Tonga has been plagued by injuries and is at the backend of his career. That being said I wonder how a fit Tonga would go playing lock?
