I heard earlier today that BA might be ok with Kelly at 7 despite his lack of "play making" cause we have strike power supporting him in Norman, Hayne, Hoppa and Tonga.

It would improve our defence. And we have much less need of strike power in our spine than we did in 2011 when we signed Sandow.

I think Sandow can offer a fair bit as a 14. We just need to devise a game plan that suits our major players and gets the best out of them somehow.

Thats it, football is a personnel driven game. a good coach should build a game plan around the strengths of his best players.

I think the strength of this team is the running games of Hayne and Sandow. Finding a way to get these guys one on one with weak defenders should be BAs top priority.

As I said earlier I'm not convinced that Morgan is the 3rd choice centre. He is young, consistent and always improving whereas Tonga has been plagued by injuries and is at the backend of his career. That being said I wonder how a fit Tonga would go playing lock?

Lay off the booze before posting Tony

So assuming our Round 1 side comes from the Manly trial squad we are looking at:

FB - Hayne
Wingers - Folau/Radradra/Sio/Toutai/Morgs
Centres - Hoppa/Tonga
5/8 - Norman
Halfback - Sandow/Kelly
Hooker - Peats
Middle Forward - Mannah/MoiMoi/Lussick/Gower/Pauli
Edge Forward - Edwards/M'au/Jo Paulo/Smith/Terepo
Interchange - ZDC

I'd go with the team in bold, although I'd love for Kelepi to make a round 1 comeback in place of Smith.

I've just assumed that Morgs is no shot at beating Hoppa or Tonga to a centre spot.

Going by what we saw last year: Joseph Paulo and Terepo are 'middle forwards' (13 Jersey types). And Pauli will be used as an edge forward this year for us.

I also have a feeling that Radradra locked himself up a wing spot with his performances in the 9s. Yes, I know, it's ridiculous to draw any conclusions about real footy from a 9 a side comp, however he just seemed to show 'something' when given space to move, and will be a more than useful finisher.
Surely Ken Sio has the other wing spot sewn up? Personally I'd go with Morgan, he's played some very good games for the Eels on the wing in the past, and he has a bit of toe once he's going. [I also just don't trust Sio, although he was remarkably 'solid' last season] The thing standing against Morgan is that he doesn't tend to ruck the ball out of our own end after a kick, he waits for someone else. Sio is a workhorse in that area, and makes nice meterage - which is a huge part of a wingers game.

I didn't think Semi was that quick - then he turned it on for the Nines.

We could so worse than have Radradra as one of our wingers IMO.

I think Sio's debut season was very good, and he suffered a bit last year from very poor confidence. But I reckon he's our first winger picked.

Sio and Radradra are specials IMO. The Nines might not have proven much for most players but for a winger they're as good as any trial for showing ability. Semi was awesome. Sio has been good enough these past couple of years (despite every merkin blaming him for our shoddy edge defence).

I think Sio has excellent finishing skills, but one thing that annoyed me last year was he would attempt to catch a bomb that was more than 15 mtrs from our line and more than half the time drop it.This is easy fixed problem thou I gess, I could never understand why Ricky didn't say don't try and catch bombs unless there on our line!!!

Sio should be the first winger picked. Easily the best finisher at the club and the metres he makes out of our twenty metre zone is fantastic.
