Poor Vai Toutai copped the blame for those 3 tries but really that was just a simple case of lazy defenders getting sucked in and others not running/sliding to cover.

Too much jogging and not enough sprinting in defense when they shift the ball wide. I noticed poor old Ben Smith with 2 bung knees almost got across to cover for one try but where were the rest of them? Same old same old....

Yep. Our wingers keep copping the blame, no matter who we stick out there. Few merkins consider the problem is occurring closer to centrefield.

There are probably trust issues right across the park too. It's hard to have confidence in a bloke you've never played with, or even just a bloke you've never won with.

To me it just looks like the bludgers think they've done their job if they pick up up a decoy runner then stand there hands on hips. It's not bloody good enough.

Anyway, hopefully BA fires a rocket up their arses.

We focus too much talk on our 'stars' Hayne, Hopa, Sandow et al but the root of our problems is and still remains our atrocious defense across the board.

Same problem we've had for... a decade? Lazy defence in the middle that thinks it's all about the straight up and down one-on-ones, rather than about the lateral and staying in play to help cut off the movements when they go to either side.

We must be the easiest club to set up an overlap against, and hopefully after years of bad coaching Arthur will make the lads work hard and get it right. The young forwards coming through are our big hope, if they can be taught not to be lazy in defence.

Gee mate, where'd you get that avatar from? If you're still trying to get people to put you on ignore that's an easy way to to entice them...

I think she made the news in the off season for something dubious.... seemed a fitting avatar for this place!

the woman that faked being stalked by her dad and step-mum (or I may have the parent and step the wrong way around)?

So you're saying you were just pretending to stalk poupou on the forum by adopting that avatar, yeah?

I've been critical of Ben in the past, and he does give away some silly penalties. But we need blokes like him.

Ben smiths first grade days are over, I'd be surprised if BA runs with him for round 1, he just appears to be off the pace for NRL

Especially considering that his best and most consistent season was way back in 2009. In the forwards anyway.

You've got a better memory than me Dan! I would have guessed she made the news for something dubious and sexual.... which of course bears no similarity to my feelings about Mr PPE or the forum.

I think Ben Smith will get a run in Round 1, mainly due to injuries to guys like Kelepi, Mossop, Loko etc. Even as the bench edge forward in rotation with younger guys/debutantes like Edwards and Mau if they are selected.

Despite adding some experience in the first half of the season, I don't think Ben will be in the first grade mix after Round 10 or so.

Kalepi will be playing round 1.

Interesting.

If Kelepi is fit, he's the first back-rower picked IMO. And then you throw in the CEO and the Chairman and we look ok...
