Parra will loose.

You heard it here first, Parra are going to walk away from Telstra stadium with a loss next to there name.

Don't ask me why i think we will loose, i just sense it!!.

Our backs have done next to nothing in the trials & our half's combination with Wagon & Dykes looks pretty mediocre compared to Thurston & Sherwin.

To win the game we will need to target there backs, i doubt this will happen as Brian is placing to much emphasis on the forwards & not enough attention top detail on the backs.

Canterbury have guns across the park, and i don't care what everyone else say's...Mason is a gun player who can destroy any team when he controlls his handling.

I think Parra will recieve a fair hiding from a pumped up Canterbury, don't underestimate them...they will be at there best believe you me!!!

Parra season is already in trouble & the ball hasn't even kicked off yet.

Parra lack penetration on the bench, if Thorman or Witt isn't included on the bench....expect Parra to loose by 30, we need variety to break the canterbury defence which is always very tough.

Petterson is a walking f**k up who can't catch a ball or tackle!!!, so he scored 14 soft try's last year big shit.....they where hardly bouts of individual brillance....more the good work of Witt, Lyon & Vaealiki......there is no way we can win a premiership with this alledged footballer on our wings.

Canterbury will win 44-12 or around that mark, Pitty i was expecting a much better Parra side this year, Smith has problems already.

look out! Ron Jeremy says we're gunna lose so it must be about to happen.

Whats wrong with our backs? We have two international centres, a star fullback, a 100 kg winger who is a speester and a guy that tries his heart out and scores a try a game. This is against Willie tonga who has always had troubles with defence and wont be happy when he see's potentially Eric Grothe Jnr and Jamie Lyon standing in front of him. SBW who is a fantatsic youngster but more of a forward than acentre. Jammal Lolesi who is a good player but does have some defensive issues.

To be honest I think our backs are looking extremly healthy heading into the game.

Canterbury have always employed the tatic of smashing it up and letting the backs take care of themselves. I think they've employed this tatic for this weeks game and i think Parra will employ something similar.

In recent years we have been smashed by the dogs up front and i would be filty if brain didn't try and fix that up.

Plus the Parra team hasn't been selcted yet so we dont know who the halves will be although after recent trials it does seem like Wagon may play 5/8.

Nice positive way to start off the season mate. We all know its gunna be a tough match but personally I think we're looking pretty good.

Starting to sound like Matt O'Neill there

Maybe i do abit....however maybe most of the judges are right.....we overrate our side.

How can we possibly stop Thurston/ Sherwin with Wagon & Dykes in our halves, i've seen Wagon miss a heap of tackles at 5/8 in the past.....but no one talks about it....like when Wagon missed 4 one on one tackles against an ageing Brad Fittler last year.

We really do lack depth in the backs....and ball genuine ball players in the forwards.....pitty that Brian's number 1 scape goat in Solomona isn't here :(

Maybe i am pesimistic, but i don't know we always struggle against a pumped up Canterbury.....there still got a magnificant side.

We really do need variety of the bench!!!....we can't go in with 4 forwards....we need a spark like Thorman or Witt!!

I really hope we do win.....c'mon Burt, Grothe, Hindy....don't be Ronni Irani's.....stand up!!!

Yeah thats right the last few times we have been smashed by the dogs, yet you sound like you didn't want Smithy to change his game plan. Sounds to me like you were quite happy with the line up used last year. Change is the only way to get better.

How can such an Evil club always have so much good fortune!!

Our club is magnificent!!....we do plenty of charity work....never brought the game into disrepute....never Rorted the cap......our crowd is always well behaved....we don't have such evil figures such as Peter Moore and that legal Aid sollciter who helped the dogs rort.

Have a great affiliation with our District, produced great's of the game like Sterlo, Kenny, Grothe who are genuine gentleman.

Where a good club, how come we always have such bad luck??.....doesn't good things happen to good people.

You are over rating Thurston big time. And Sherwin was far from the form he displayed in 2002.

They score alot of tries from kicks, and with two of their three chief targets from kicks (Vangana and Utai not there), it limits their attacking options. travis Norton was their other attacking weapon, and without him they become alot more one sided in their play, and alot easier to defend

Mason makes zero yards against big teams. He runs well and has success against smaller oppositions. He won't be able to find anyone out there to run at and will go missing.

No O'Meley puts alot more work on the shoulders of Price as Scott/asotasi are nothing more than average.

I think as pumped up as they may be, their focus leading up to the match could be way off.

What? BTW, I like your confidence.

I've remained positive for 18 years now!!

I was positive in 91,92,93,94,95 etc.....i was positive always on the old Parra hill in the early 90's hoping we'd win...i still remained positive at Brett Kennys last game...even though we where smashed by Canberra 68-0 the week before.....i was confident at the Grand Final......i was confident last year!!

Confidence sucks.......better off being pesimistic.....atleast you won't get your hopes up!

Ronny, Ronny, Ronny

I agree that we do tend to overrate our own side but I just can't see us getting smashed by 30  . Not with a fit Hindmarsh & Cayless on the park, it just won't happen mate! C'mon Ronny have a bit more faith than that. I really think it will be a closely fought match where the side with superior fitness will run out with it in the second half.

The Dogs are a strong side but don't forget they are without Harris, their number 1 centre, O'Meley & Utai. That's a fair chunk of talent that will be missing there.

We have the players to get the job done and i'm confident we will get it done. The whole team & Smithy will have learnt alot from last season missing the 8 and spending a long hard offseason training & thinking about how to get back to the top. This offseason preparation has been different to any previous one under Smith.

The boys are ready and the dogs are going to get a big surprise. I was at the double header 3 years ago @ Telstra when we smashed Penrith & I think we'll come away with another win this year, albeit a much closer game.

...and by the way RJ, I know this is just part of your reverse psychology ploy to ensure the Eels will win! If it works you should do it every week! 8)

With the pesimisim your showing I'd glad your not a Souths fan or you'd be tippingthem to get done by 80 v the bye.

in all seriousness tho

There are undoubted question marks over the side this year. Mason has been able to get over at times in the last couple of years but the Eels have had a much smaller pack. This year they have a bigger pack that can match the likes of the Roosters, Warriors and Dogs

* Say's it in a quiet way* shut up!!! ;-)

I hope your right, i hope our boy's are as good as what we say they are, i hope they don't let our district down against Evil.

I really hope we see Hindmarsh, Vella, Cayless back to their 2001 form......and by god i'd love to see grothe & Burt score a couple of length of the field try's.

If I were Smith i'd be telling Hindy & Caylo that I demand the big fluffy head of Willie Mason on a platter for the after match meal!

Mason opened his trap last year and labelled the Eels soft - and without the likes of Cayless and Hindy they were. Hindmarsh and Cayless will be sure to remind the boys that this year its the Dogs that have the same sort of doubts over there pack......

You heard it here first, Parra are going to walk away from Telstra stadium with a loss next to there name.

I feel ver bad saying this, but just watching the 5 PM edition of Sports Tonight, where they announced the four new faces in the Dogs side, I thought so too. I mean, Bill Williams in the centres? How are we going to stop him? And that prop Maevau (or whatever) - he's a gun. Suddenly I am not so confident, I don't know why ...

Don't ask me why i think we will loose, i just sense it!!.

The exact same thing with me. Funny thing is I always believe in the team, except for now.

Our backs have done next to nothing in the trials & our half's combination with Wagon & Dykes looks pretty mediocre compared to Thurston & Sherwin.

Can't really gauge that - our trials were focused on our forwards. But Thurston/Sherwin is a proven combo.

To win the game we will need to target there backs, i doubt this will happen as Brian is placing to much emphasis on the forwards & not enough attention top detail on the backs.

I think the only positions we can beat the Dogs is in the back 5.

I disagree - Mason is too inconsistent. And he should ALWAYS play like a man possessed for a dude his size. He was the least of our worries last year.

I think Parra will recieve a fair hiding from a pumped up Canterbury, don't underestimate them...they will be at there best believe you me!!!
