Parra will loose.

Parra may be a bit loose, but I don't think that's any reason to dismiss their chances. Remember they will have had a week's rest after the Mardi Gras, so they should be well recovered. Here's hoping you knock off the Dogs.

You heard it here first, Parra are going to walk away from Telstra stadium with a loss next to there name.
I feel ver bad saying this, but just watching the 5 PM edition of Sports Tonight, where they announced the four new faces in the Dogs side, I thought so too. I mean, Bill Williams in the centres? How are we going to stop him? And that prop Maevau (or whatever) - he's a gun. Suddenly I am not so confident, I don't know why ...

I think your being abit premature, Considering that Parra have won 3 trials and where the runners up in the world 7's. Sonny Bill Williams and Hutch Maiava are big and intimidating but either have yet to play first grade. I think they are more scared of coming up against Players like Lyon and Cannings. Let me ask you, how is Willie Tonga or Sonny bill Williams going to handle Jamie Lyon?

Don't ask me why i think we will loose, i just sense it!!.
The exact same thing with me. Funny thing is I always believe in the team, except for now.

I think Parra have a great chance, but lets not kid ourselves, the Bulldogs will be a tough assignment and i am expecting a close game.

Our backs have done next to nothing in the trials & our half's combination with Wagon & Dykes looks pretty mediocre compared to Thurston & Sherwin.
Can't really gauge that - our trials were focused on our forwards. But Thurston/Sherwin is a proven combo.

I must admit i am pretty unhappy about Wagon in the halves and the total disappearance of Michael Witt. But Parra have managed to score some good points in the trails against the Warriors and the Sharks, the Tigers game was disappointing but you get that. The Parramatta Backline has nothing to prove, Lyon and Burt are total class. Grothe has had a good preseason and will do well outside Lyon. Vaealiki and Petersen do there job but hopefully we can find some better options. Infact i think they are deadset head and shoulders above the Bulldogs backline (without Harris and Utai).

To win the game we will need to target there backs, i doubt this will happen as Brian is placing to much emphasis on the forwards & not enough attention top detail on the backs.
I think the only positions we can beat the Dogs is in the back 5.

You got to go forward before you go wide, footy basics. The point of trials and the off season is to focus on your weaknesses. According to what i read is that Parramatta has really focused on its go forward and defence. Trail form isnt a true indication of how a team is going to play during the season. I am confident once the Parra forwards lay the foundation we can see the backline in full swing.

Canterbury have guns across the park, and i don't care what everyone else say's...Mason is a gun player who can destroy any team when he controlls his handling.
I disagree - Mason is too inconsistent. And he should ALWAYS play like a man possessed for a dude his size. He was the least of our worries last year.

Mason always saves his best for the Eels and quite frankly it is scary. But dont forget we have Hindmarsh and Cayless! Our team performs so much better with these two fit. IMO Hindmarsh and Cayless will make the difference. Their workrates will test the bulldogs forwards fitness, cause Hindy and Caylo will just keep on hitting it up and hitting it up. They are a unstopable combo.

Petterson is a walking f**k up who can't catch a ball or tackle!!!, so he scored 14 soft try's last year big sh*t.....they where hardly bouts of individual brillance....more the good work of Witt, Lyon & Vaealiki......there is no way we can win a premiership with this alledged footballer on our wings.

100% agree, i just hope Ash Graham recovers soon and has a chance at a wing spot or even McKinnon, Langi & Kativerata

I don't think Muzza is so bad.

Are we forgetting some of his great tries?

OR

His try-saving tackle on a Cowboy last year which dragged him into touch?

I actually agree aswell

Petterson is a dud

but Petersen is the clubs top winger.

If you wan't to talk about mistkae riddled players then just watch McKinnon play.

I see some interesting comments here from Ron Jeremy, someone who generally tells it how it is on this site.

I am prepared to give the team (and Smith for that matter) 4 weeks to show what we are looking at for 2004. If nothing is happening then I think we will have some comments to make.

I have seen alot of comments about how well is Jamie Lyon going to go against some rookie centres. Well I can tell you right now that if Wagon is playing five eighth that he will not see the ball. I am happy to see Dykes be at Five-Eighth, but there is not way I will tolerate Wagon in a ball distribution role ahead of Michael Witt.

I will go as far as to say that if we have done nothing in the first 4 weeks and Wagon is playing five-eighth and continue's to do so, then I will no longer support Parramatta whilst Brian Smith is coaching the Club.!

I would really like to see John Cartwright as head coach and JT as his assistant.

and the club will be better off without your support

seriously the continued Smith bagging is starting to p me off do you think Hindmarsh, Lyon and co would have bothered coming to Parra had Smith not been here while he may not have found the players the system he had setup helped bring these players and others to the club.

While not all Smith decisions have worked a number have. 2003 was the 1st time since Smith become coach the Parra missed the finals had Smith not become coach Parra wouldn't have made the finals in any year.

Not too many people were bagging Smith in 2001.

but as is the typical behaviour of fans as soon as a team is winning it is because of the players putting in on the field but as soon as thing go south it's sack the coach time.

Sonny days for Bulldogs
March 9, 2004

A TEENAGE back-rower rated more highly than Gorden Tallis at the same age will make his NRL first grade debut in the centres for the Bulldogs this weekend.

Sonny Bill Williams - an 18-year-old from Auckland - will start against Parramatta at Telstra Stadium on Saturday night after impressing in trials.

His size and speed tormented St George Illawarra on the Gold Coast two weeks ago, with Dragons pair Mark Gasnier and Matt Cooper struggling to contain his rampant charges.

That display prompted St George Illawarra coach Nathan Brown to rate Williams a future superstar.

"He's the best 18-year-old I have ever seen and I played with Gorden (Tallis)," Brown said.

"He's going to be a superstar. If you put every back-rower on the market now he'd be the the one I'd (take)."

Williams was close to making his first grade debut in 2003 but the Bulldogs' high-quality forward pack left little room for coach Steve Folkes to take a punt on the teenager.

However, a shoulder injury to last year's find, centre Ben Harris, Nigel Vagana's exit to Cronulla and the suspension of New Zealand winger Matt Utai has left holes in the Bulldogs' backline.

In 01, he ran at JT, In 02 he ran at Tonga and last year he ran at Green. This year who will he run at?? If Witt was playing he would run at him, but it looks like he won't be playing so he will be stuck running at good defenders and will have no impact.

I don't understand the point of supporting a sporting team, if you are not going to go into the first game of the year, against your arch rival with a defeatist attitude...puzzles me... :?

Very Loose. Not only do you spell it wrong in the title but also in the body of the argument. That just smashes your psychic mystique.

PB I think you should watch a replay of that game as Mason ran all night at our number one centre Jamie Lyon. Mason was pumped for that game and he was close to manof the match, however Jamie played well in defence but that probably took the sting out of our attack.

It was a good game plan by the cheats ad I expect the same again this weekend.

Ron I am a little disheartened by your approach. Reverse Pyscology is for wimps that are looking for excuses before they need one. :(

It was the kids that found it. I kept going past it looking for it.

I'm just looking for spelling mistakes....
I'm just looking for spelling mistakes....

I wonder who made them. Yeah!

For me, I think it was just a case of the 'pre-season' jitters.

I mean, I have been excited from day one with our signings and our fit team, and then the media hypes up Hutch and Bill Williams as being amazingly great and I begin to get nervous.

Now, though I am relaxed. I know we have a great team and I know we can do it.

PS (I think the biggest reason I was so worried because Williams is so big fast and strong and I was worried he might trample all over our own centres and backs. But I now realise both Vaealiki and Grothe are his size and Lyon can tackle anything that moves, so ...)

Maybe i am a touch nervous?....but i think many are underestimating a very strong Canterbury side!

Our halves combination will not win a Premiership......Wise & Petterson on the wings aren't going to make other wingers cringe....and no variety of the bench!....Vaealiki what the??.

It's not that im about to jump ship to another side if we lose or im about to give BS a gob full!.....i just doubt we have the attacking flair apart from a few players to really challenge the big sides.

Would you still be confident if Harris & Utai where on the wings??......i doubt it!!

BTW

David Hunter, i have more important things to worry about then Spelling errors, i don't have time to look over my work unlike the work place plus this is a discussion about Parramatta.....my suggestion is to get over it and look at the positional errors in our football side!!....so pretty please with sugar on top...find some more constructive things to pick on.
