Where did abbas miski play footy last year and did he play 6 tonight?

The #6 was Bevan French who we brought down from Inverell last year to play in our SG Ball squad, people who are good at spotting talent hold a high opinion of him and after watching him play 2 games I think he's played well.

Yeah he showed some real speed to catch up to Davis when he broke through the line. Also showed some nice decision making in the grubbers he was putting through, naturally a fullback but defended pretty well in the line from where I was sitting. Am yet to watch Forty's videoing of the game.

While Manly remain optimistic about retaining Cherry-Evans, the premiership-winning halfback is planning to complete a round of follow-up meetings with rival Sydney clubs over the next 72-hours which will leave him in a strong position to make the biggest decision of his career by next weekend.

Canterbury, Parramatta and Cronulla are all in the race for Cherry-Evans’ signature — and given the dramatic turn of events on the Gold Coast, it appears increasingly likely that he’ll be remaining in Sydney.

Privately, Titans officials believe they are still a fighting chance to sign Cherry-Evans — who turned 26 last Friday — given the size of their three-year $3 million dollar offer.

But money isn’t everything.

Cherry-Evans, with his boyish looks and clean-skin image, is at the prime of his career and his management are taking a strategic approach into furnishing their star client’s ‘brand’ off the field.

He also has a young family with wife Vessa and relies on the support of family on the Northern Beaches.

Cameron King is a very notable absentee. Since the District Reps clashed with the trials I have no idea if he was injured or the severity of the potential injury.

Half Time in the Harold Matthews

Parra lead Newcastle 30-0

Dominant showing so far from the young boys. Jesse Cronin and Josh Curran have laid on some monster shots along with controlling the ruck while backrowers Filia Utoikamanu and #24 (unlisted sorry) have run wild. Alex Seve and Robert Afu (playing right wing) have also chimed in with some quality touches.

Full Time in the Harold Matthews

Parra def. Newcastle 40-6

Very good game from the 16s. The final quarter of the game was marred by an injury concern for the Knights and cramps across both teams but it was another clinical showing from our boys.

The forwards mentioned in the first half report were immense and there are some absolutely magnificent hits for the highlight reel this week.

Half Time in the SG Ball

Parra lead Newcastle 10-4

A much closer affair in the 18s, Parra were forced to repel multiple sets on their goal line early in the half, and did so admirably, before taking control of the game with a 10 point lead. The Knight hit back by crossing out wide with a short side play. Decent game so far although both teams have coughed up the ball a couple of times.

Full Time in the SG Ball

Parra def. Newcastle 26-22

Much better half from our boys as Joey Tramontanta's return from the bench proved to be the turning point in the game. The Eels surged out to a 26-10 lead before two late tries in the final two minutes to the Knights narrowed the margin.

Funny week in the SG Ball with three games played to a draw. Parra remain undefeated in both grades and take on Illawarra next Saturday morning at Patrician Brothers.

Highlights for today will be up tomorrow.
