An error from Manly from the kick off now. Big chance for the Eels as they pack for a scrum 10m off the goal line.

Nothing to come from it though as Reimis Smith is driven into touch from the first carry. Ran that angle a bit too wide and couldn't hit the deck in time.

Dylan Izzard is on at hooker I think as Manly complete a decent set. Pene fields the kick after an attempted trap with his foot.

Simple set from the Eels in reply. Zach Dockar-Clay's kick is barely too long and results in a 20m restart. Nothing in it there.

More woes for the right edge of Parra as the Manly lock bursts through. They eventually kill the ball after multiple offloads but it has sucked in plenty of defenders. Parra are well short down the opposite edge and a quick shift is enough to see #4 Jesse Ramien beat Abbas Miski to the corner, barely. It is hard to see where the issue is on the right from where I'm sitting but Manly are doing all the damage there.

The conversion is unsuccessful.

Under 20's are pretty woeful. Remis Smith looks to be out of his depth. No1 for
Manly is a gun.

Massive gain for Pene there! Kick return that busts through the line. He finds support but it is brought down.

Clay takes it to the left where the Eagles desperately repel some second phase ball before he chips to the right. Manly are all over it though and secure the ball.

They really struggle for metres this set though and heave it down field where Davis retrieves the ball.

Another error from Paula Kaufusi as he spills a pass on halfway. Fortunately Manly make a cheap error in return and the brings an end to the opening stanza.

The middle is okay but far too many cheap errors in that sector. Tepai Tepu-Smith and Paula Kaufusi both came up with two really soft mistakes a piece. Tom Trbojevic has been the man for the visitors but all his work has been done down our right edge. As I said before it is hard to see who the culprits are from my angle.

Has to be mate. Trbojevic is only running the usual fullback slant and isn't putting on any fancy footwork so we must simply be struggling laterally.

I'm not going to lie...I am super rusty! Was hoping to be a bit crisper on the old keyboard but I have some more practice this weekend with the Wenty game. Filming has made me lazy!

Jury is out on Davis at the back. He looked slick there in the two trials I saw but that is hardly conclusive proof of anything. Aloiai was fine on the edges in the NSW Cup in the same period so chances are the issue is either side of him.

Second half underway now with the Eels receiving.

French fields the ball and turns it to Raeli who takes the opening carry. The Eels make a big break now as Kaufusi offloads to Clay! ZDC is barely grabbed by the defence before linking up with Izzard on his inside! That only delays the points by a single tackle though as Clay cuts the ball out to Fuimaono who quickly links up with Pene. Pene guns for the corner and just pushes through two defenders to make it in time.

Much better stuff from the Eels.

The conversion is successful from the sideline.
