Is this a way for the Eels to have contracted players who can play for the club but still stay living in the country?

Would be good for the young blokes to not have to move to the city in order to play for us, and we can bring them in when they get a bit older.

Not really, as they still need to train as a team and be based somewhere. It basically gives the team a “reserve side”
for the ball/Matthews side - both not sure if a player wouId be able to drop back to the Johns/Daley sides if they play a game in the Ball/Matthews sides.

With the Steelers once players are picked in the ball/Matthews side, they don’t drop back if they don’t play.

If we got some app developers to make an NRL training program for the Wii it should be no worries. Just train by multiplayer video game.

I know we've got a fair few players contracted from the mid-north coast, so we may be looking to expand into that area more?

I suspect it will be more like what JoshuatheEel says but we'll have to wait and see. Either way I think it's an overall positive not only for the club but also the players, another 17 players each week get to play in a higher level competition and instead of quitting the game at 15 or 16 they may continue onto 18.

It will be interesting to see if the eels are made to pick players that only play in the Parramatta comp not ones recruited from other areas. I think they should.

In the current Daley/ Johns comps it’s just based on players playing in the relevant country regions, not players recruited from outside that region.

Like those mid coast players eels have contracted, if they don’t play (any games at all) in the ball/Matthews sides, they really should be playing their relevant country group rep side.

Not against the eels involvement but a club like the eels have a shit load more resources then the country groups.

Today's team list is in for the elimination final against the Bulldogs this morning. Good luck to the boys! hope the players coming back down from ISP really lead the way. Looking for a big game from Parry at FB.

My suspicion is the untalkable.
Skill position players are getting bashed out of the game by massive units who peak at 18. My favourite player of all time Jarryd Hayne is the last player with even a smidgen of skill that this club developed. That is 15 years ago.

I love Haynes skill but I prefer Hindmarsh and Burt as a player. Those guys bled blue and gold and where 100% every game.
