What exactly stopped us from matching the offer if we thought he was worth it?

I am disappointed but is he more than just a promising workhorse back rower?

At best he would turn in to a Josh Jackson or Boyd Cordner. If he was going to be a Taumalolo (game breaker) you would retain him at all costs. To me good back rowers are a dime a dozen.

This is the key point. If we've signed players from outside the district and don't have enough left to retain our 'own' players then we haven't exactly been loyal ourselves.
O'Sullivan would of been repsonsible for poaching him, im sure everything would of been above board. He'd never do anything dodgy to land a player........

How the f**k can you develop them without signing them first?
They wait till they are 17-18 after clubs like Parra, Penrith, Newcastle and Tigers have put 4 or 5 years into these kids. How is that developing them??? That's flat out poaching, and the last 5 years it's been done by a dodgy prick who should of been booted from the game as the storm scandal.

But go on tell us how great the Roosters are for the game and how much they put in.

I think the first things the Roosters should do to try to appeal to the Eastern Suburbs elite types (with the ultimate goal of getting some of their kids to play the game) is spend some money on getting there existing players/stars capable of speaking intelligently and articulately. What a waste of time their successful 5 year period was with guys like Maloney and Pearce out the front trying to out do each other with dumbness.

We wouldn't do it if we didn't think there was any benefit. And if there is no benefit then it's a good argument for the NRL taking over that facet of the game.

You're the only one obsessing about whether or not the Roosters are good for the game. I'm just explaining how the market works.

Well with our 30 years of nothing I'd say we haven't benefited from anything.

And in that same time they have won 2 comps and played in 6 GF's.

I'm not obsessing over anything just pulling you up on your usual BS. First you made up that Curran is from the
Country and then you dribbled more shit to cover up for being wrong.

Pou the walking contradiction.

Its important to sign players out side of the district as this is a business, The kids Parra have signed from outside (Country kids) 3 of them are regarded as some of the best players at Parra. As for being loyal it goes both ways, Parra gave Curren the opportunity with them at the age of 13yo -14yo & have developed his game, But I don't care who you are, no kid is worth spending the ridiculas amount of money that the Roosters offered Curren for a 3 year deal, a lot of 1st grade players don't even earn whats been offered. If Parra were to try & retain Curren then they would loose at least 5 greats kid. Roosters need to develop there own kids, a lot of Roosters juniors are currently from Sth Syd juniors & now the Roosters are trying to get the Central coast kids as part of there development program, Problem with that is all the good coast kids are gone to either Syd clubs or Newcastle. Iv got nothing against what the roosters have done as all clubs do the same thing (Its a business) & you cant blame the kid for taking the money. Lets have this convo in 2-3 years & lets see if the move was a great idea & the kid is playing regular footy at the highest level. Sometimes its not all about the money. Time will tell But I wish the kid all the very best As iv been informed he is a great kid.

Don't try to argue with Pou he knows everything about anything. Except where Curran was from though.

I have watched a bit of Jesse Cronin.
I think he is highly regarded, but I don't see him as anything to get excited about. In my opinion just not big enough to be a really good first grade forward. Hope he proves this wrong.
We signed a young prop from the north coast who will play in the under 16s who could be something because he is very tall. The photo of the 2016 Australian merit under 15 team has him about a foot taller than everyone else.

Was told that Jesse will put on about 6kgs over the off-season. Jesse's best attribute is his heart. I saw him take on and beat the penrith forward pack by himself in the trial at blacktown earlier this year. He is the sort of player that Arthur likes in first grade, as you said though his size may be an issue.

David Hollis. I met him at one of our games this year. When he was sitting down his legs had to go over the seat in front of him as they wouldn't fit in between. I reckon he'd be close if not taller than 2 metres. Apparently his footballing ability is sharp too, so it won't just be his height that gets him through.

Thats him. If he makes it I'll call him Greg Drake.
