Some really good work in securing some of these kids coming through. Afualo, Cronin and Utoikamanu have been playing well through the lower grades.
U15s won 3 tries to 1 in a high standard game
Matts were beaten comfortably 6 tries to 2, Dogs came out firing against an Eels team missing 7 starters and didnt look back. Eels hit back in the last third to score 2 late tries. 5/8 Nick Fonua went down with a fractured eye socket in 4 th minute, and already playing without the expected starting halves, lack of organisation told
As one of the staff said, that's why we play the Dogs in trials, they come out firing , big and aggressive and it tells you where you are. The country players seemed to struggle early with the ferocity and speed of the defence, but improved as they got more game time. Shows the difference between good country levels and Div 1 in the Sydney Comps.
You're suggesting they bring a stud along to restart the process? No wonder there is a difference in CRL and Sydney comps...The talent scouts are waiting at the Maternity units to get the country kids - and don't put anything back into development.....

They can't develop players at their home locations without wasting plenty of money. If they sign the most talented kids and bring them into their own systems they at least get better bang for their money and only waste a little bit.No wonder there is a difference in CRL and Sydney comps...The talent scouts are waiting at the Maternity units to get the country kids - and don't put anything back into development.....
Hi Pete
They are good players who are still living at home who won't be involved in rep training until the New Year and have been left to play in their own district until turning 16.
My observation waa that they obviously bend the line ffrom the get go in country reps, but the speed, overall size and ferocity this early in the season from city reps set them back until they settled down. It's a bit like going to high school, they will be learning that things are different . They stood up well in the last third given this was their first hit out against city level competition
On top of all that SG Ball just won 5 tries - 4. In all honesty there were also a lot of regular starters missing from the Parra team, but as a whole I thought the dogs were unlucky to loose, the dogs where bye far the better team throughout the 3 periods of play. The big dogs forwards died late in the 3rd period giving Parra an opportunity to play some footy & score some late tries. In my opinion I thought the No: 1 in the first team from NZ was outstanding playing at full back & scoring a full length of the field try possessing a lot of speed. Also though PJ was outstanding at lock
I agree with some of what your saying, but each individual should be treated as that. Yes all the country kids were off the pace today for what ever reason, but there are players from the country in the past that blow that theory out of the water, not only were they up to speed when they came down, these players were above the city kids standard. Players like Ethan Parry, Kyle Schneider, Jesse Cronin. These 3 players have set the bar high for the Country kids
