What backs will come into NSW CUP.
I imagine next season we see
AMS, R.Pensini, Martyn,Russel, Tago in the backline.
Nrl I imagine

Iongi,Semi,Lomax,Simmonson, Wilson, Pensini and unsure where Guth plays.
Simmo may start the year in NSW cup.
Don't see Dunster getting anytime.

unless you know something we don't then I wouldn't include Wilson just yet.

Yeah but how can I gloat if the signing does happen if I don't mention it now?
If we don't sign him I can always blame my little birds and cut that little bird lose.
It's win win. And aggravates a few bean heads which I enjoy.

oh yeah...noted.

AMS is ready for Preseason
I haven’t spoken to Richard but everybody I talk to says he will be ready for Preseason
Read some article where young men who do their ACL have about a 20% chance of doing the other knee or the same one within 2 years of the initial season ending injury. We need to be careful with AMS. I rate him because he has speed and from everything I’ve heard has a great attitude.

Well he probably owes the club.

Injuring your knee at a Koori Knockout not a club sanctioned event isn't a good way to start your career.

The club pay the bills don't they. It's a kick in the teeth to the club.

Having the other back Richard Penisini doing his knee playing touch footy with mates in a park a month later.

Maybe 2024 was cursed from the start.

Interesting article here:

EXCLUSIVE: Billy Slater warns of 'danger' in potential return of national youth competition

"When it is under 20s they are all 18 years old anyway, they are all younger than that. By the time they get to 20 if they are going to go on they are probably playing first grade."

A bit of an exaggeration (especially forwards and halves) but you get the idea. There wouldn't be too many NRL players who weren't playing reserve grade by 20.

Make it U19s... and then if they're not good enough to make Reserve Grade the next season clubs can f**k them off, and they're still young enough to find/try a different career path.

It has some merit, but I'd make it u/18s if it's going to be a true youth comp, needs a bit of thought though as it might have the potential to f**k up Flegg and SG ball comps, or at least it will weaken them and fans may lose interest due to the lack of competitiveness or quality of the game

U/20 is cup age and in some cases NRL age

Leave as is, but make NRL squads 40 players. With minimum salary $125k.
Then 10 development players on $60k (max age 23).

That's like an extra $1.5 million per club. Surely manageable.

Squads of 40 will allow players to stay in the system longer, and more players being developed within an NRL system, creating a larger pool. It will also strengthen reserve grade comp, as better players, creating a stronger comp, allowing for better player development.

More development contracts will ensure the best juniors are attracted to league. Allow more juniors to develop in an NRL system and for a longer period.

If the NYC came back in its former iteration it would replace the Flegg competition. If they bring in what you're suggesting they'd be replacing the SG Ball and Mal Meninga competitions not be running alongside them.
