I still have serious doubts that any new members will attend meetings as long as they have to suffer through the boring procedural parts.. but i'm getting shot down.

Jess - over and out. :D

thing is, those boring parts, like a financial reports, make sure the club keeps ticking over and can do keep doing the fun stuff. ;-)

Unfiortunately, if people want to actually get involved with an organisation that has formal meetings and receives things like leagues club cash, you're going to have to put up with the 'boring' stuff.

Couldn't they spice it up by presenting the figures with dancing girls and have someone sing the numbers in a song?

yeah as MITS said earlier it's a necesary evil that can't be avoided but personaly I think it's a small price to pay for the privlidge of being backed by the club..mind you, I wasn't there last night so I never endured the boring stuff first hand.

I UNDERSTAND THAT IT IS A NECESSARY EVIL.

I'm trying to explain that i think this necessary evil would be a major contributing factor in keeping people from attending meetings and getting involved, and that there could maybe be another option worked out.

PS it took everything i had to not write this post entirely in capitals.

Thats true, I understand that, but if someone wants to get involved they're going to have to get involved in that type of thing.

what you need to do is take over and get in the chair so you can whizz through the formalities quicker. ;-)

I don't understand why they can't have the meeting broken up into different sections. We used to do that with other clubs I've been associated with.

with the B&G Army, I would assume the club needs some sort of formal meetings to co-ordinate the wishes of the mob and chants etc
As far as co-ordinating Chants etc we have organised a group of vocal supporters we have called 'The Swarm'( For those who don't know, that is what a group of Eels are called). At the moment it consists of passionate 1 Eyed Eel members. Our sole objective is to be united and organised on game day in being vocal for our team. We will be meeting up on game day round 1 if anyone is interested. I will let everyone know closer to the day about where and when. Bring a bongo as well if you like. I will have mine for sure.:hitit:

I thought the club had organised the 'Blue and Gold Army Squad' seating for that? Are you guys sitting there or are organised seperately? I think it's great you're organising, but wouldnt make much sense if you weren't trying to link in with what the club is doing.

The club organises seating in an area where we can wave flags, make noise and jump up and down and that's it. I'm just trying to get some co-ordination between us fans happening. I'm in the Blue and Gold Army and have season tickets but the club is never going to organise anything other than seats, beer and chips. The rest is up to us. I am hoping to just get together passionate people before the game and see what we can do to make plenty of noise but in an orchestrated way that inspires our players.A few songs and chants that consistently echo around the ground is what I'm looking for, the bongo or drum is just a way to keep time.

Welcome to LU Mr Bongo. A timely reminder for us that there are other groups of fans within the blue and gold umbrella.

Best of luck with your endeavours, and I'm sure you'll hear from people here that have tried the same thing in the past and are keen to get it going in the future. :thumn

I think the lesson learned last year, is that it is easier to unite passionate chanting fans for away games, as (new B&G Squad bay aside) these people tend to have their own existing arrangements/season tickets at home.

We need something, where on game day, we all meet somewhere (not at the stadium) and all walk to the stadium and make noise along the way, in a big group.

That's exactly what we plan to do. A swarm of eels supporters rolling down Church St before every game to remind the locals we are playing and create some pre game atmosprhere. It's simple:
1. Meeting Place ( Same Place )
2. Time ( Same Hrs eg 2 before each game )
3. Regularity ( no matter how many turned up last game I will turn up next game )
If this turns out to be a solo exercise so be it. You will at least see me having a go and drumming away before every game.
Just because people have tried and failed before will not stop me and I will make this happen.
